JD doesn't have what we need from a QB...

The common retort to any criticisms about JD is "but look at his stats!" Are you guys actually watching the games or just looking up boxscores at the end of them?
4th and goal at the 1.5 yard line, he takes a 13 yard sack trying to run away:
3rd and 2, just stares down one receiver the whole way, throws an incompletion with a guy open on the other side:
4th and 4, and he throws the ball 3 yards short of the first down:
The games he's a part of are full of these kinds of plays.
He doesn't have any pocket presence, he doesn't have situational awareness, he doesn't (or can't) go through progressions, and he can't pose any kind of downfield threat to defenses. You're not going to win a title with a guy who can only scramble and hit comeback routes.

I was drinking the koolaid that he was going to be a much improved passer. Boy, what a disappointment

Understand what you are saying, but there are bigger problems.

You can post these all night if you’d like. The neck beards have decided it’s not his fault and nothing will change their minds.

He hasn’t elevated any facet of his game, in fact, I’d say he regressed quite significantly.
Also, all the chatter of our OL being elite was all garbage… just like during the Les years. Same script, different (way more expensive) cast.

I’m not saying he’s the worst qb in all of cfb but any means, but the heisman predictions were laughable.

Same old Daniels from last year. No improvement

That’s called a sucker bet

Show the screen shot of the open receiver? You can’t, all four receivers were tightly covered.

It was 4th down. Give your guys a shot at it.
JD even mentioned he should have done that exact thing in the post game presser.

So throwing the ball away isn’t an option?
Posted on 9/4/23 at 7:20 pm to BallariSE
His fan club is incapable of understanding statisticsal analysis

Both can be true here. I wanted Daniels to be the guy so badly with his electric running ability, but he just isn’t the guy.
Did he cost us the game, no, did he hurt us, yes.
For everyone blaming the playcalling, which was suspect at times, go back and watch Purdue. The offensive play calls are different when Nuss is in, to take advantage of his throwing ability.
Daniels can not, attack the middle of the field or down the sidelines with any consistency. The drop by Brian was on Daniels, yes he should’ve caught it, but a crappy throw that allowed the DB to get back in coverage and break the line of sight caused it more. Don’t forget the announcers literally 3 times saying Nabors 1 on 1 down the sideline was open and Daniels threw two terrible and uncatchable balls.
Nuss may not be the answer, but at this point he is the future and 100% deserves to start against Grambling as a prove it game. Daniels can be electric in the redzone, especially if they play some wildcat with Nuss and him switching off with him originally at WR.

On 4th down?

Yes, better to give them the ball back on the 1 than taking a 15 yard sack and handing them field position.

Everyone keeps saying this like downplaying the issue that our starting QB can’t get us in the end zone isn’t a major issue. It’s a massive issue; especially with a clearly deficient defense. This team will only win by putting up a bunch of points. He simply can’t.

That play was the third straight drop back pass from the 2 yard line instead of using play action or some kind of sprint out action where your dual thread qb has a chance to run or pass.

I don’t see Kelly making a change like that for game two, but I’ve been wrong many times before.
Kelly seems like he’s going to take the difficult road and square peg/round hole it until it’s too late with Daniels as starter.

I agree. I got progressively more pissed as the game went on and Daniels only could throw 5-7 yard outs, comebacks, and drags
