First of all, stats don't tell it all, but they don't lie. The OL was not able to keep the heat off JD. JD used his legs to avoid the rush but it wasn't enough.

The wheels came off when we started dropping him back every 1st down. Early on we ran some gimmicks, misdirection and motion horizontal stuff but as soon as we put the game in his hands the blowout ensued.

Moscona just reads the stats and tells us we are all stupid for bashing JD.

Show the screen shot of the open receiver? You can’t, all four receivers were tightly covered.

Moments before the sack:

He has time here to do anything he wants to avoid a 13 yard sack.

The pressure comes, and he still has time to throw it away:

But instead he tries to play hero ball, turns, and gets sacked:

This is what I mean by him having a lack of situational awareness needed for QB play. He has great instincts for a receiver, but when you've got Wingo and Perkins, you throw the ball away and put them at the 1.5 yard line. You don't take a 13 yard sack.

If you're JD you do. He had an open receiver.

There's actually a guy on him, but it's hard to see in the pic I uploaded.

3rd and 2, just stares down one receiver the whole way, throws an incompletion with a guy open on the other side:

"stares down the WR"

For one, that is considered open in big boy football. It's his first read and that is an easy completion. It's a quick slant. Doesn't really have time to stare at him

"throws an incompletion"

aka the ball gets batted down by a DL.

At least be truthful guy

4th and 4, and he throws the ball 3 yards short of the first down:

blame the play design. Everything else was covered. Players routinely turn up and get a first down on plays like that, too.

4th and goal at the 1.5 yard line, he takes a 13 yard sack trying to run away:

This is just ticky tack. Daniels was trying to keep the play alive. Again, a situation that he has shown the ability to escape from.

How dare he try to play hero ball and scramble away from the pass rush on 4th and goal! He should have just given up.

I get it, the sack sucked. But the OC calling three straight drop back passes from the 2 yard line does not play into your personnel. That’s not who we are, and it’s not who Jayden is. Look at the screen shot, 4 receivers all tightly covered. You can see the db’s arm behind Mason Taylor and a guy is step for step with him.

So it’s better than to take a sack rather than to attempt a pass and give your guy a chance to make a play or draw a PI? Worst case - FSU takes over at the one yard line.

I had hopes that JD5 improved over the offseason. So far no indication that he has. He doesn’t make the players around him better.

Well that's great, but that's not even the guy he was staring down, he was staring down #11, who was off the screen at the bottom.

It's a 13 yard sack when we would have had them at the 1.5 yard line. That's not ticky tack, that's a really bad play by him.
