Stanford and Cal gonna eliminate some sports? ACC doesn’t field teams in as many sports as they support
compete in the WCC? for those sports?

Pretty soon the ACC won't have any schools left in those states, except maybe Duke & Wake Forest. And the way North Carolina is trending, those laws probably won't be on the books long.

I have to think the conversation went like this,

all right, I got some good news, we’re now in a power conference and have access to the college football playoff!!!!

Now comes the bad news, we’re not getting a damn dime of TV money, therefore, I need to hear everybody in this room say they’re on board and they’re ready to pony up with their checkbooks…SWIDT

Our AD Already came out that 14 sports will field competition with the ACC. The other sports will stay regional.

I think this is the play to fully bring Notre Dame into the fold.

Wake Forest and Georgia Tech playing an ACCCG in front of about 26 people was a really embarrassing look for the conference.

It was a good year for them if they could VT down there to bring any semblance of a crowd

California has a law that prohibits state funded travel to states with anti gay laws. Wonder how that’s gonna work for Cal

Florida, Georgia, S Carolina, N Carolina are on the ban list

My guess is the money is taken from one of the athletic dept funds that are 100% funded by donations. Cal travels to Auburn next year, so the funds for that have to already be accounted for.

But is that sustainable for all their sports to try and make it out to these states many times a year?

I guess it's not the CCC (Coast to Coast Conference).

What a dog and pony show.

So when is Clemson getting out of the ACC?

If Clemson’s FSU’s and/or UNC’s lawyers get the GOR voided, they will leave about 5 minutes after the ink on the court ruling is dry. If they lose it will be when the GOR is up.

They'll negotiate a longterm buyout. It's not happening in court.

I'm a little surprised those pussies bowed down to Notre Dame, who refuses to join them in football.

Amazing.

If any school leaves the conference before the GOR expires or is shot down in court they will forfeit the media rights to their home games until 2036. That is $472,800,000 using the FY22 ACC distribution. Plus a $120,000,000 exit fee. That is almost $600,000,000 per school. If they win in court nobody is leaving. If they lose in court then FSU, Clemson, and/or UNC leave. If they negotiate a buyout they end up voiding their own GOR and Miami, UVA, GT, and ND head to the BIG. Negotiating a buyout carries the same risk as losing in court, and The ACC believes their GOR is ironclad. So why would the ACC even consider negotiating? They hold all the cards.

Not gonna happen as long as Notre Dame can keep getting its own football deal from a TV network and keep all the money. NBC's new president is a Notre Dame alum so pretty good chance that contract gets extended when it's renewal time.

If they go to the Mountain West, as the last two members of the PAC, they should bring with them the rights to the name.

Are they going to take trains to the east coast? Their leftist student bodies can’t be happy about all that flying around contributing to climate change

what industries are the wealthy SMU alumni in? any famous ones you know? i've heard about the alleged deep pockets of their alumni base, but i don't know anymore details than that

One of my coworkers roomed with Kourtney Kardashian for a semester. Said she was never there after the first week or so.

But otherwise they have a very well established law school. A sure way to get big donor alumni who like to put their name on buildings and win at football.

If you walk around campus, it’s very international so a lot of overseas money is flowing in. You also wonder how they can fill a stadium since a lot of the student body is apathetic. (This was the case when they were a top 5 program too)
