Only school that benefits from this is SMU. Will be interesting to see how they use all that money they have now they are in a Power 5 conference.

California has a law that prohibits state funded travel to states with anti gay laws. Wonder how that’s gonna work for Cal

Florida, Georgia, S Carolina, N Carolina are on the ban list

SMU's problem has never been availability of money and they aren't making a dime in this deal.

That is awesome and will be great to see how they backpeddle.

You seemed to have misunderstood. I wasn’t talking about the ACC money. I was talking about the money SMU has that they haven’t put towards football since 1986. SMU is filthy rich for a school that size. That is what I was talking about.

You have to hand it to SMU - they bought their way into a P4 conference. Time to fire up the Pony Express!

There is basically no chance but it would be so hysterical to see Louisiana Tech upset SMU tomorrow after this news.

From buying conference championships in the 80’s to buying their way into Power 5 in 2023. What a time to be alive

Pressure is on SMU now. They have to build on this momentum.

FSU has not helped? Since we joined the ACC in 1992, we have won the conference 15 times out of 31 years, won 3 national championships with 3 heisman winners. Other than Clemson, no other ACC school has done a damn thing in football. Now fsu has a few down years and you claim we aren’t helping lol. Bunch of welfare football programs in the ACC feeding off of FSU and Clemson which is why I’m confident we will be leaving soon.

ACC just became more of a joke than they already were. SMU? Then you take the scraps that the Big Ten and Big 12 left behind extending all the way to California? This was a move of desperation and it shows.

Duke/Stanford would be a nice rivalry.

Had a pretty fun home and home back during the Andrew Luck / Jim Harbaugh era.

They clearly have the money and resources but haven’t been able to translate that into actual success for some reason.

ACC Presidents and Chancellors have voted this morning to extend invitations to Stanford, California and SMU to push the league to 18 teams.

So, we're counting Notre Dame too?

If the California university system regents prevent the move based on that, then Cal deserves to get left behind. And, really, of the three schools being added, Cal has the least to offer.

Not really. It is just TV payouts they won't get. They still get the bowl cut and increased gates from the ACC. They will actually make more than the AAC total payout.
