Answer it’s easy. Most of these games were in the 90’s and LSU struggled against most teams back then. Also coincided with FSU’s golden era.

They’ve played once in the last 30 plus years. This is irrelevant.

Only two of them were played in the 90's.

Those Bobby Bowden teams were always really good, but I was a little surprised that LSU's record against them is so poor....I was on hand for that one Baton Rouge win....the fans pelted the field with oranges and the atmosphere was electric !!!

Why does LSU struggle so much vs FSU?

Because we went cheap in 1979 and didn’t offer Bobby Bowden enough to come here.

31-28W in the 1st Peach Bowl 1968!
Also, lost a few tough games like 83 opener at TS and the "Bobby Bowden " bowl late 70's that could have changed the course of history. They were #1 I think in the 91 game. Has been a tough out but that must change come Sunday!

Because LSU sucked more often than they didn't the past half century.

LSU played FSU a lot during the Bowdon years, LSU was generally not good, FSU was. There's your answer.

1979 FSU win - LSU was 7-5, FSU 11-1
1980 FSU win - LSU was 7-4, FSU 10-2
1981 FSU win - LSU was 3-7-1, FSU 6-5
1983 FSU win - LSU was 4-7, FSU 8-4
1989 FSU win - LSU was 4-7, FSU 10-2
1990 FSU win - LSU was 5-6, FSU 10-2
1991 FSU win - LSU was 5-6, FSU 11-2

That's the 7 FSU wins before the one from last year. LSU struggled in general those year, not just against way better FSU teams. Not exactly rocket science there.

By your metric maybe Rice should schedule Alabama soon, after all Rice is 3-0 vs them all time. Could the crimson tide break the streak or would it move to 4?

10/27/1979 Baton Rouge, LA 19 - 24
12/30/1968 Atlanta, GA 31 - 27 Peach Bowl

FSU played us mainly in down years. Last year FSU caught us early before we were rolling. This year both teams are good and I expect a great game.

Most of those games were in the Bobby Bowden era where they went 10-2 or better most of those seasons. LSU was a 7-5 team mostly except for the year we beat them. FSU went 6-6 one year and we had 3 wins. LSU just wasn't a great program back then.

The night the oranges came flying

Also back then NOBODY got on the field at Tiger Stadium and fans got on it that night after that victory.

55-21 in 82.

One of my favorite LSU games in Tiger Stadium/GBFTL.

The Oranges and the mysterious Fog in the second half.

The Alan Risher to Eric Martin bomb!

See what happens when your brain cells are not damaged from alcohol; you have all these great memories of LSU football left intact........

Presently, I think we are a better team. We were last year but couldn’t execute well enough to win.

You think LSU was the better team in that game?

LSU did improve over the course of the year, but so did FSU who finished top 15 in both total offense and total defense. The only three schools besides FSU to do that were Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia.
