Yes it’s the demographics, determine what those are and there you go.

We’ve got some condos on Lake Hamilton outside Hot Springs and we go up about once a month. It’s really a nice community. Tourist based and retirement community. I’m kind of struggling with where we will retire in a few years. We love our place here on the lake that is our permanent home, but Hot Springs really has a lot more going for it.

It’s a good run city, the tourism for Hot Springs is fantastic and it’s not Louisiana. It’s sad to leave where I’ve always lived, but it’s the direction we are leaning.

When is the last time you’ve been? How often?

Hot Springs has rebounded nicely and it is booming. Especially lake Hamilton. Then there is Lake Ouachita, Lake Catherine, Lake DeGray to the south. Caddo Gap for canoeing. Mountain biking all the way to Little Rock. Garvan Gardens has activities throughout the year. Oaklawn race track. Bath house row. Old downtown is always busy.

I was speaking with the Short Term Rental agency when getting my license for a rental that’s on the lake but on the edge of town. The lady told me that even during Covid that their sales tax revenue has increased every quarter from the corresponding quarter for a long time. Each quarter ( summer to summer/ winter to winter etc. )is an increase over the year before.

Years ago Hot Springs wasn’t on my radar as far as even a weekend getaway, but it has really improved over the years. That’s government trying to help the communities, not shut them down like Louisiana chooses to do.

And there are bad parts of town in pretty much every community. You can’t really avoid that.

45+ states are run better than Louisiana. I don’t even know which ones aren’t, just leaving room for error.

I saw a recent post on br Reddit and they were complaining about the trash.

Poor people is the obvious reason, prob in br is that’s black people. So you either do shite to stop it and don’t get bogged down by, that’s racist, or you just let your city stay trashy.

Pride.

Knoxville residents are proud of their city and state.

Baton Rouge residents arent proud of their city and state.

Every issue stems from this.

Louisiana has ONE town with an average household income of >100k, and it’s youngsville right at 100k

No offense to anyone in youngsville, but if that’s the best you have to offer…

I think it's one of the Harris brothers (Disciples of Apocalypse stable in 97/98).

I grew up in North Louisiana. At age twenty (62) I joined the Navy.
I left the Navy in 69 and lived in Johnson City. Then Morristown in 72. I visited Louisiana often, family lived there. Moved back to Louisiana in 90. I was shocked at the living conditions. I moved back to East TN a year later.
Doubt I will ever travel back to La.
