I find it inspiring too.
With Google voice numbers, and off shore online accounts and a few people and a good idea we could make bank.
Oh and I contributed 3 times in the last 5 years to the LAFOP. Lol

Stopped after first episode. Sad losers thinking they were getting some kind of payback imo

First off, I just want to give props to everyone who works in these boiler rooms. As someone who has had to make countless cold calls, these guys are fricking pros.
It is fitting for the doc. There are few things more bipartisan approved than regulating spam calls. On the surface, it should be an easy win for any politician. However, they are equally addicted to money as the FOPs. These two clowns were able to get a Senior Senator on film being openly disinterested and downright an a-hole.
That is more powerful than getting some casual interest that doesn't lead anywhere.

Yeah that was so disappointing. He clearly walked in and had absolutely no intention of doing anything to help them. And in a way, I get it. But man, he apparently used to be so anti these kinds of scams and now doesn't seem to give a single frick that they are still rolling along and scamming people out of money.
It almost felt like he's the career politician now and knows how the game works, and knows to keep his mouth shut and make his own money.

It's not about the callers themselves, it's about exposing the scam. Of course they're all losers- they're druggies, drunks, killers, etc., who couldn't get a job anywhere else.

I actually got a call today. Hadn’t received one in a long time. But, I froze and just hung up.
I swear though, next chance I get, I’m going to ask if they know Sgt. Patrick J Pespas.
dude, this !
i have lived in Houston for 13 years, but still have a 337 number spending my first 3 decades in Lake Charles.
I have received phone calls from LA Fraternal order for years. Never givin anything, but just listening with respect and saying no thank you and hanging up...
After watching this doc they called last week and I actually listened to his pitch and i could hear other hustlers in background and then realized he already said the words "can i lock you into that 15 dollars" i busted out laughing said "nice try" and hung up.

That's too bad. It sounded like he had gotten himself cleaned up on the last episode. Hope the fame didn't contribute to a relapse.

Hoping the best for him. Minus the hard drugs, I’d imagine all of us know a Patrick J Pespas who will make you shake your head and laugh, yet you still admire them.

Just finished this. Thought it was a great eye opener to how corrupt this country is. Couple of notes.
1. Blumenthal is a fricking turd.
2. The work from home guy was a psyco, and the lotion by his computer was cracking me up.
3. It's amazing g what to broke dudes with questionable backgrounds can do.
4. Now I won't hang up when the fop calls me for money. But no way I would donate.

How is stuff like this even remotely legal? It’s scamming people out of money by lying about what you’re collecting it for. Is that not fraud in its almost most basic form?
It is and it isn’t. Technically as long as even 1% goes to the charities, it’s legal, as long as they don’t intentionally misrepresent it to the consumer. If the consumer asks how much goes to the charity, they have to tell them. On top of that , the “charities” are even worse than the fundraisers. The telemarketer/fundraiser types at least employ people who otherwise wouldn’t get jobs. The charity organizers are all career fraudsters and criminals who just pocket the one percent of money thr telemarketers hand over to them (which is still a lot of money). They create sham charities like “cops for breast cancer survivors” and then find clueless boomer cancer survivors to sit on the boards of the charities to make them look semi legit.
As for the call themselves, robocalls are enforced by the FTC but for a lot of the telemarketers it’s easier to pay the fines and keep doing it anyway because they make so much money rather than engage in litigation and fight it.
None of it is ok. But what they were doing in Telemarkters (I’ve only see the first episode) was blatant fraudulent misrepresentations and lies .

Did you watch the doc? That’s exactly what they’re doing. Thus my question of legality.

I amended my original post. You are correct. They were blatantly and fraudulently inducing donations.
