Hurricane Franklin is looking impressive.

Swells today on Hilton Head are the biggest they’ve been all week, courtesy of Franklin. We leave Wednesday morning, headed back to North LA by way of upstate SC, to check out some RevWar battlefields. Hopefully we avoid the worst of Idalia’s rain and wind. Good luck to and prayers for all in her path.

fricking around>>>Finding out
Apparently there is a 37’ hill on Cedar Key. I have $20 for anyone who straps themselves to the tallest pine tree on it.

The visible satellite imagery makes it look like the center has wobbled due East. It’s definitely east of 85. Not sure why NHC still is claiming it’s 85.1

They slightly missed the center with the recon pass but the lowest pressure was at 85.08W

@TropicalTidbits

As sunset approaches over Tropical Storm #Idalia, core thunderstorm activity near the circulation center remains concentrated on the eastern side. No significant progress in building an eyewall has yet been made, and the vortex remains a little tilted with height, which is keeping Idalia from intensifying rapidly, for now. The longer this process takes, the better the news for the Gulf coast, but the expectation is for Idalia to ultimately become a major hurricane before landfall. Western #Cuba may see hurricane conditions tonight as Idalia passes close to the western end of the island.

Typically add a couple mb to that extrap pressure. Still, would be decent development.

If Idalia was a man’s name, we could joke that these paths need to be fixed with some XIAFLEX to straighten the curve of those paths.

More than a couple.

Slow steady development in the face of shear. Still aint stacked, as Levi noted. Not expecting it to really get going till tomorrow afternoon.
