This is true. But, not debating could drain support from him, particularly if someone else on stage is impressive. It's better to look bad in a debate and make a comeback, than to skip one and look like a coward - unless you're a Democrat, then you can just use mail in ballots.

I tend to agree that an early debate with several opponents is not a great idea for him. Let it come down to Trump v 1 other, and thats where he should absolutely have to debate.

Trump's whole thing is that he's fearless and will argue (fight) with anyone. If he won't debate, that looks weak. Especially if he wont' debate, but keeps talking with reporters at the NYT.

Until he started tossing stuff out there like associating Desantis with trafficking he could have won me over by debating. At least for the general elections.
However with the above stunt and not debating he will absolutely not get anymore votes from me.
I won’t vote for Biden either but he won’t get my vote.

He lost to Biden. He's definitely hated to the point that he's not a winning candidate.

Trump needs to debate.
2016 he debated everyone and anyone because he had nothing prior for him to fall back on.
2024, he actually has policy that he can tout. For example, if someone brings up border funding, he can properly debate that congress didnt give him the money or whatever he wants.
If someone were to bring up COVID policies, he should defend his decisions and why he made them...right or wrong.
I dont see him running from a debate though. I, who lean Trump, think this was a good quality of his for 2016. He cant back off of that now IMO.

This is the most ignorant argument I could think of for this topic.
There's a whole shite ton of questions about the 2024-2028 presidential slot that a lot of people want to know how it will be handled and the best way to do that (If you're not afraid of looking like a fool and losing support) is open debate between differing strategies.
I understand 100% why liberals don't like open debates and sharing/comparing of ideas/stradegy, but if Trump thinks he shouldn't have to "lower himself" to debate his plans and ideas he's fooked come november 24.
He'll lose a lot more support than the thinks with the "It's my turn" "you owe me" attitude.
