Why is Aaron Anderson not talked about being a key piece?

I know he's coming back from injury but seems like he's only ever brought up for ST.

Is it just because the WR room is stacked and he's gotta wait his turn or has the hype drastically fallen off after just 1 year at bama?

Probably due to the injury that kept him out last year at bama and spring at lsu.
With issues bama had at wr last year he probably would have contributed something.
Maybe will get more info when Kelly meets with media before fall camp about where he stands health wise

Not sure if this is the right board. But
quote:

I know he's coming back from injury

quote:

because the WR room is stacked
hard for him to see the field over Nabers, Thomas Jr, Lacy, and Taylor. Plus add in Brown, Parker, Sampson, and Hilton Jr.

I don't think we have a feel yet for how much he will be used offensively this year.

People are probably also curious to see how he bounces back from his injury and if he has lost a step.

Time will tell

Probably because we don’t know what he has yet. Tons of potential and game changer but how does he come back from injury? We just don’t know yet.

Hasn't he had two surgeries? His whole game is built on speed and elusiveness, so there's just no way to know if he can still do the things he could do before. Even if he's fully recovered, he hasn't really been on the field for a long time, so it may take some time to knock the rust off.

He didn't play any at Bama got hurt during spring. Taking reps from Nabors, Lacy, and Thomas Jr will be hard. Also fighting against Hilton and all the other freshmen. Really nothing to talk about but ST until we see him in actual game in college.

Jayden Daniels was asked about players he thought will surprise people and he said Anderson right after Lacy as far as surprise players that will have an impact.

I’d say with our existing rotation, his best bet to break in is to show some kr/pr acumen. If he shows his electricity there, maybe coaches see he needs to be on the field and needs the ball in his hands in certain packages/situations. At least until he can consistently break into the wr rotation.
Also, it never looks bad on a “resume” to bust arse on special teams.

I am sure we will start to hear about his status when practice starts. At this point, is he close to 100%?? No need to rush him, if not ready, we can be patient.

One of the easiest questions to give an answer to and I'm going to give you several reasons that compound on each other.

- didn't do anything his first year at bama because of injury and being behind many WRs
- was still dealing with injury during our spring practice time so out of sight, out of mind
- Kyren Lacy became "that dude" in the spring game and he was just forgotten about as a possible starter
- people still think Chris Hilton, if healthy, has elite ability to not only be our speed option, but the #4 WR. We know they aren't exactly the same, but who would feel would start first, the one who has experience at this level, and has already played with the QB, or the newcomer who we haven't even seen in practice?

From the way they talk, he's definitely going to be on the field in some capacity on offense though. Will likely be in the 5 man rotation at worst.

Injury concerns and he hasn’t proven anything.

FWIW - Daniels sat down with Moscona during the SEC media days and when asked which under the radar WRs are set to shine this season, he specifically mentioned Lacy in the slot (big catch radius) and Aaron Anderson

Anderson will probably end up number two wr by mid season. He tore up Alabama’s first team defense in scrimmages before his injury and was ahead of all the freshman for them at wr at the time of the injury. His injury was not the type you don’t come back 100 percent. Held out spring so he would be 100 percent.
