Had he not won the World Cup, he'd either still be at Paris, found a way to get back to Barca or in England.
The plan was always to finish his career in MLS, specifically Miami. He's got nothing left to prove elsewhere now, so he came to the league a year or two earlier than expected. 100% he retires after the 2026 World Cup.
