per Jason Starrett of The Athletic @starrettjason:

quote:

Les Miles finished 145-73 as a head coach (.665 win pct).

Assuming this impacts his record, he would now be 108-73 (.597 win pct).

Coaches need to have at least a .600 career win pct to be eligible for the College Football Hall of Fame.

Ole Lesticles sure crashed and burned. Should've gone to Michigan when he agreed to and then backed out at the last minute due to getting into the big game...

Oh well, he was a shitty coach anyway who couldn’t adapt.

I'm kind of torn on this. He probably wouldn't have gotten in due to his off the field stuff that came up after he was fired. But there is no denying he was a great coach for a good part of this career. His stubborness killed him.

He should have automatically been disqualified after the 1/9/12 debacle, anyway. It wasn't the first time I'd walked out of a stadium cussing Les (Tennessee 2005, Arkansas 2007, Tennessee 2010) and it unfortunately wasn't the last time (Bama game 11 months later), but it was definitely the worst time.

Maybe LSU can send a plane with big,LSU letters on it to the closet city where Les lives and tell him to meet at the plane where an LSU official can give him the bad news on an official LSU stationery which says:

"Les you slipped up being a stubborn minded, manipulator of men and women and your coaching records and face are being wiped from the walls of LSU and you deserve that and much more. Enjoy your life knowing you are a failure"

No head coach in CFB history squandered more talent than Lesley

WRONG. I knew 2 of the coaches at that time, and they said he agreed to accept the Michigan head coaching position. Then, a sports writer (Herbie??) went public with the information and Les had to deny deny deny. There was an agreement in principle, just nothing concrete in writing...

I met Les numerous times and spent time in his office. Really likable guy. But damn, he sure has burnt a few bridges...
