The small dirt farmers in NE LA got into goats to sell to Muz 20 years ago.

My grandparents had goats. Goats are dumb as hell but they’ll eat every plant they can get at. Don’t skimp on fencing because goats aren’t going to stay where you want.

Billy goats are pure assholes. Their highest goals are to get lady goats pregnant and knock the shite out of you, and not necessarily in that order. Keep your head on a swivel when one can get to you.

Talk to your local cooperative extension service office. Free advice and information, and they can probably put you in touch with other goat folks in your area.

This. You should have a county USDA office, they are your best resource especially if you are looking for a tax break. They have funds for fencing, running a water line, etc.

Fencing is paramount.
Become friends with your local veterinarian, as goats are susceptible to many ailments and diseases. Their health can go downhill quick too. If you think one is “off”, don’t delay.
Yes, they’ll eat just about anything, but they can also be very picky. You will need to supplement their intake with a small amount of grain.

Also look at the YouTube channel "the shepherdess".

You need protection from predators. Hogwire is a good option for fencing. There is money if you have dairy goats. The cheese can be a nice cottage industry.
