Wake is going to be tough. I wish we could have Skenes for that game. But you know Floyd has been looking good. Cooper coming in for what...3 shutout innings was very nice last weekend.
I can't imagine Wake's bats stay this hot through the tourney. But then again will ours. It's going to be fun.

They cover that as well.

“In the last 12 games, LSU’s bullpen has a 3.80 ERA over 47.1 innings.”

Kind of easy when all you need is a putter to hit it out of their park

Wake has been the most complete team all season long. They made a complete joke out of their regional with 3 blowout wins and a complete joke out of Bama 1x in Super regional with a 22-5 win.

I dont blame them for picking them. Going to be an incredibly tough game for us if it happens without Skenes on the mound, they absolutely mash, and go much deeper in pitching than we do.

Floyd's issue is giving up the homerun. He's been fine otherwise. My hope is some of these homeruns are going to turn into long fly outs at a much more difficult stadium to hit the ball out. I guess we'll see, but the bullpen has also come a very long way over the past month. Cooper, Ack, Herring, Hurd, and Guidry have all been solid to great. Even Money has been much better lately. At the end of the day, the team has been playing as complete as they have all season the past few weeks which is exactly where you want to be right now. There are no guarantees in baseball obviously but we couldn't ask for more at the moment.

Again I'll say. They played 48% of their games away from home (road and neutral). Rougly 31% of their homers were hit on during those games. The vast majority of their homers hit were done so in a ballpark thats basically 300 down the lines with a short fence. Imagine if that was the size of Alex Box how many homers this LSU team would have.

We've seen this before too.... Ever since the new park opened LSU fans always bitch about pop flys in the world series. I can't imagine Wake will bomb it out of that park either.

They all picked Wake to win the ACC tournament too… im not saying a
Wake isn’t good but they play in an extremely small ball park, we’d have guys over 20-25 HRs if we played on that field all year

Every team in our bracket rakes.

Green number is the percentile and number below is the actual number of each category.

quote:

Weighted On-base Average (wOBA)

wOBA is a version of on-base percentage that accounts for how a player reached base -- instead of simply considering whether a player reached base. The value for each method of reaching base is determined by how much that event is worth in relation to projected runs scored (example: a double is worth more than a single).

For instance: In 2014, a home run was worth 2.101 times on base, while a walk was worth 0.69 times on base. So a player who went 1-for-4 with a home run and a walk would have a wOBA of .558 -- (2.101 + 0.69 / 5 PAs).

Why it's useful
Unlike on-base percentage and OPS (OBP + SLG), wOBA assigns value to each method of reaching base, in terms of its impact on scoring runs.

quote:

Fielding Independent Pitching (FIP)

FIP is similar to ERA, but it focuses solely on the events a pitcher has the most control over -- strikeouts, unintentional walks, hit-by-pitches and home runs. It entirely removes results on balls hit into the field of play.

For example: If a pitcher has surrendered a high average on balls in play, his FIP will likely be lower than his ERA. Balls in play are not part of the FIP equation because a pitcher is believed to have limited control over their outcome.

I love it. The overwhelming favorites nearly never win let alone make it. OSU in 2017 was crowned the best team and we beat them two in a row to make it to the finals. 2015 we were the overwhelming favorite and didn't make it.

I like our chances especially with how we have been playing since the post season started.

Maybe Stanford's ace can beat them? Will he be available for their game one?

Wake, to a lesser degree, has a similar feel to Oregon State in 2017. Hopefully they suffer the same result.
