Haven't seen one of these bad boys on our property in years but to my surprise he was laid out in one of my flower beds in the shade this afternoon. My tomato and vegetable gardens have been getting pillaged by the rodents and small birds, the owl and rooster dummies just don't seem to pack the same punch. Hopefully he sticks around and starts putting in work.
Anyone have them hanging around their property? Do they seem to do a decent job of killing pests? I have some fruit and vegetable gardens that have taken quite the beating this year, never really have any snakes around anymore.

We've got one that hangs out in our flowerbed. I hope he eats all the bad things, he's a bro

Haven't seen one on my yard in a while. However, several years ago, I was cutting my grass and noticed a very small one (maybe just over 1/4 in diameter) just off my path. He wasn't moving at all and I thought I had possibly run him over with a previous pass. I shut down the mower and went to check it out. When I got closer, he was moving slowly. Then I noticed that he had his mouth full. He had a young copperhead, yellow tail and all, about halfway swallowed. I watched him for a while and then moved him (and his meal) close to my shed where I had already cut.

Had a big one that would hang out in a back pasture that I would catch every so often. Beautiful snake, the spots were almost fluorescent

We have 2 or 3 that hang around. You can pick them up without worry. Thankful for their presence.

I watched one eat another snake before. Dude was worried about me at all until he only had about an inch of tail hanging out of his mouth then he tool off like a bat out of hell.

Found some eggs yesterday while disposing of a mulch pile.
They were around 50 yds. away from where I excavated these guys out of a pile a couple years ago.
That day I just missed catching big momma king - thinking she returned to the same area to lay this clutch. They got scooped and dumped by my tractor before I saw them so they might not hatch. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Any snake that hates other snakes as much as I do is a friend of mine.

After making me pull a calf muscle I relocated him to the back. Blows my mind how many people will wack a king.

Unbeknownst to me, there was a beautiful one in our backyard last year. Got home and the wife and kids had gone medieval on it lol
I was pissed.

You were close - 9 baby kings in that one.
Give this one a shot…
ETA: Yesterday I moved on to the next mulch pile and…16 more eggs in that one.

I am petrified of all snakes. I know, I know, the good snakes and all that stuff. After reading this board for many years, I have learned which snakes not to kill. Last week my 2 German Shepherds were barking like crazy. I live in a neighborhood and my back yard is close to a patch of woods. So I go investigate the barking and there it was, a nice speckled king. My dogs were trying to kill it, but I shoed them away and moved the snake to the back fence. This is the first snake i have seen in 10 years of living there.

man that's awesome. somebody needs to go into the breeding business and sell them to stock people's property. I'd buy a couple.
