Just wondering why district 22 was needed (or allowed) and paying extra sales tax and property tax.
Basically says for an elementary school and some other improvements, but more wondering if area is allowed some autonomy over school(s) or if this set up was only way district would build new school and make other needed improvements in area (like some kids or neighborhoods were about to get forced to go to different schools without funding new school and improvements themselves).

I would get my kids transferred out if I saw any of their teachers wearing this shirt.

There is no industry to supplement the tax base. Most funding comes from the state MFP. LP has always done more with less funding

Wouldn't they also get SS, Medicare, etc., from wherever they work when they are not teaching? Or SS and whatever other pensions they earned?

The contradiction of the OT is truly amazing to watch.
On one hand, they all make $100k coming out of college and have millions saved up and anyone not making $100k is a sucker.
On the other hand the professionals that teach their kids make "too much".

Well if they showed a little More professionalism maybe they’d get a little more support. And those OTers being so callous don’t get three months off of work from May to August in addition to every single holiday, every weekend, weather days, etc.
Come to think of it, maybe that’s why those $100K OTers make what they make.

Louisiana is among the worst in public education. The state’s economy is so fricked up that a 1% tax for a raise is where the line is drawn? Geez.
It’s not paradise in Texas, and I don’t particularly love what I do anymore, but the battles between teachers and the public don’t seem to hit this fever pitch where I live.
This board is littered with people who work from home, admit to watching LSU events and other things during the work day, and are OT ballers, but shite on teachers. I’ll never understand that aspect.
Have a mutual respect. I respect what refinery workers, tech workers, etc do. I’m not in those industries, so I won’t pretend to know all about them and shite on them when they want a little more during times of economic hardship.

Bro they’re home by 330 every day and work 38 weeks a year. They’ve got good benefits and can retire at 52. Plus they chose their profession. We’re not dealing with an apples to apples comparison.
