Rewatching season 3 first episode. I love that Rupert's office looks like Emperor Palpatine's throne room

When a show hides a main plot character it’s usually because there’s a surprise in the works. I would expect Nate to show up and deliver some kind of significant friction soon.

Gotta think the first Richmond West Ham fixture will include some high-spikes directed toward Zava

There is no championship game. Maybe an FA Cup final showdown.

This has been my thought since last season. They seemed to make a point to say that Richmond has never won any trophy several times.

Completely agree. No way Ted worships this dude like this. Hell he didn’t even know who he was, don’t like the way he’s throwing away everything he’s ever preached about team so quickly.

I know they’re setting stuff up, but I would almost prefer if Ted fall off the wagon and was disengaged and that’s how they all let the Zava worship happen instead of him being so avid about it.

O well, I fricking love Sassy, glad she’s back!

Yes! This something that fits why he isn’t as in tune as he is famous/known for. This would make sense story wise. A place for him to grow!

I agree with this idea in the conversation. The whole situation turned on its head after Rupert bought west ham. It turned into ruining what he loved in Richmond to beating his new love in west ham. Couple that with how he just became a dad with "new" Rebecca after not wanting/having kids with "old" Rebecca and the situation becomes much more complex.

Ted now has a responsibility to win in a sport he still barely knows shite about, so while I agree it is kinda out of Ted's character to immediately make the game plan "get the ball to Zava," I believe he has built up the trust and cohesion in the team enough to handle the diva superstar. Especially if the diva superstar wins games.

Another thing I was thinking about was the possible foreshadowing when Ted's son asked him why nate wasn't in the Lego display with the championship trophy, and Ted moved him closer. The more I think about it, the more I could see Nate not living up to the wunderkind title or Rupert's standards, getting sacked by west ham, and Ted taking him back at Richmond. I think we are all in agreement something is going to go down with Zava leaving for west ham, getting hurt, leaving Richmond, or something along those lines. Perhaps it could be a Roy+Jamie dream team combined with Nate who would know all of west hams players weaknesses playing against west ham on the last day of the season for the premiership trophy? Just an idea I had

Accepting that this is true then I would like to see a scene or two of Ted working to bring Zava into the fold of the team dynamic. That would be on brand for Ted, demonstrate Ted’s tentative approval, and I think could be played for comedic effect with out necessarily rehashing Ted and Jamie from Season 1. I think it would also show how ingrained into selfishness Zava is even though being called out in the bathroom is what got him to actually sign with Richmond.

I agree. Hopefully that happens in the next episode. Ted has a way of making people open up, and Zava is an onion with many layers that I'm hoping Ted can start peeling into. Perhaps Zava gives us a few moments of truth and vulnerability into his true character before going back into his Zava ego.

I thought this episode was great, and I didn't care much for the first two. The ending with Trent Crimm gave the Colin story some weight.

They way they were following him w/the camera and the music that was playing makes me wonder if Crimm is might secretly be a Rupert mole. At the very least I could see an him strugging w/the idea of outing Colin b/c it could lead to bigger book sales and potentially getting his newspaper job back.

I'm trying to figure out Rebecca's background. When she was telling the story about how Rupert pursued her, it sounded like she was a bartender - definitely working class. But I had got the impression earlier via interactions with Sassy and with her mom that she was more well off even before she married Rupert.

If she was a bartender before Rupert and now she owns a soccer team that spends at least some time in the EPL, I think her anger at Rupert is a bit misplaced.

She shouldn't be angry at a dude who wouldn't have kids with her, cheated on her and then married a younger woman named Rebecca who he had a child with?

Don't get me wrong. The guy is legit portrayed as an a-hole and goes out of his way to antagonize her.

On the other hand, if she was working class when they met, she has kind of hit a windfall. It looks like he didn't insist on a pre-nup and she came away from the marriage with ownership of what seemed to be his favorite asset - the team.

I believe she was a bartender at a private club, which likely takes connections to land. She is the daughter of a pretty well-off family. I am guessing she was in her 20s when they met and just not really sure about a definite career path, so just having fun.

Off the wall theory, but I’m going with Zava falling for Shandy and Rupert hiring her for PR for his club then Zava follows.

The vast majority of the time when a woman reaches her 40s she's no longer able to have kids and it's pretty clear w/her reaction to Rupert getting Rebecca 2 preggo that she wanted to have a family with him. I seriously doubt the money would ever make up for her not having her own children when he turned around and immediately got a woman half his age (w/the same name no less) pregnant after years of clearly being very careful to never have kids w/her.

New episodes up. Not my favorite but still good. Wheels seem to be somewhat set in motion for a Ted and Michelle reunion maybe.

I absolutely loved it. I also loved that they held off showing the rest of the video of Lasso retaping the poster, and what that means referring back to kintsugi that was introduced last episode. Guessing it will have a part to play in later episodes.

Also the whole Jane's sister is in town...that's the correct answer had me howling.

Just saw that someone screenshot the texts as he was scrolling, and the one: You liked Roy "No" is masterful.
