Watched episode 1 this morning. Nothing ground breaking but a good first episode. Took a weird jab at Joe Rogan early but other than that, good stuff.

Ted with the Bugs Bunny kiss on the mouth for Nate was perfect.

Feels like this is the last season and they are setting up Ted going back to the states in the end.

They've kinda hedged on this lately after saying since the show started that they only had 3 seasons in mind.

Enjoyed the first episode.

As someone that follows West Ham I got a crack out of them being picked top 4 and being presented as one of the top tier, elite teams. I'm not sure they've ever been picked to finish that high.

They are really playing up Neds internal struggle of who he was versus who he wants to be. The first glimpse of him coaching and the press conference made him seem unprepared to coach and the whole story line seems to rush his villian character transformation. I don’t think they let the villian Ned flesh out enough and it is coming out in his performance.

They also started and ended on a sad Ted family note. Will be interesting to see where that goes, the feel
good ending would be him going back to the States to reunite with his wife. That would be nice to see.

Also hoping Keely and Roy get back together. He seemed to curse more this episode than usual. But, I’m ok with that. Love his niece!

I like the role Jamie is filling into, still arrogant , but, with self awareness and care for his team mates.

All in all I thought it was a decent episode, 7/10.

I think that’s what will happen. And Roy will get over his insecurities about coaching X’s and O’s And become Richmond’s next HC

I really don’t like Nate, he has become very punchable.

Cos he's not the villain. He just wants to be, cos that's what he thinks he's supposed to be. It's a bad fit.

I think Rebecca is going to become a ruthless count in this season.

I don’t know what to think of Nate. I guess we’re supposed to realize he’s trying to be someone he’s not… but we’ve seen him denigrate those who work under him before he got to WHU. That’s a shite quality no matter how you slice it.

I had a boss once who was terrible to underlings but all her colleagues loved her because she was a completely different person.

she was about to be but the message from Keely that said good job letting Ted be Ted brought her back down to earth.

or at least she won't be that way with Ted like it was implied.

I enjoyed the episode. Had to watch it twice to get all of the dialogue. My hearing is so crap and the dialogue is so densely packed and they talk so fast and with the English accents that first go round I didn't pick everything up. My wife does not care for watching with closed captions, so I watched it once with her without and then this morning I rewatched with. Helped out a lot.

I'm hoping they don't revisit old ground too much with the character development. Rebecca was leaning to going back to her original character for a bit early in the episode. Roy and Neeley seem to be treading the same water and Ted is still pining for his wife. Nate has some interesting things going on and Jamie Tartt is developing, so so far it's kind of a mixed bag.

I think They set Ned’s heal turn up pretty well.

He is insanely insecure, and jealous. There are moments throughout where you see it.

I'm not sure if they knew what to exactly do with Rebecca, I thought it was a pretty quick turn going from the villain role to ally of Ted role. Now she's in his corner, last season was a weird subplot of her using a dating app and talking to her own player, and then the new episode we get a taste of her going back to the villain role.

There's only so much you can really do with her and season 2 didn't do the character many favors.

Rupert is already playing Nate’s insecurities like a fiddle.

Yeah, not sure about her either. The difference is in the first season she was a straight up villain who only brought Lasso in to fail and embarrass himself and Richmond as a way to get back at Rupert.

Now she likes Lasso and very much wants him to win as a way to get back at Rupert. It’s the same goal I guess but a different way to go about it. Maybe she will go back to more of a bad guy role if she wants to try and bring in actual soccer coach to win or something

One thing is they should have done more to recap where the teams are. Seems like West Ham is in the Premier League (and picked to finish top 4). I can't tell and can't remember exactly how Richmond finished. By some of the players comments, it seems like they also made it to Premier? If so, I'd say Ted has to be looked on as something of a success, despite the many ups and downs.
