fricking Rockies, what a dogshit organization

obviously needs to keep playing well but with that in mind, without a doubt. You go to a game hoping to see players live up to expectations and he exceeds them, particularly with his defense. Made two unbelievable plays.

He keeps on his current trajectory and he will be.

Right now no. In another 5 seasons at this pace, sure. 3B is weak

Arenado will get in for sure because St. Louis is so well represented among the BBWAA.(but I think he deserves it anyway)
I looked into it recently after Andruw Jones got snubbed again and noticed that some cities are extremely well represented with the BBWAA voting body. I expected New York and Los Angeles to be well represented but I also noticed that St. Louis and Philadelphia are extremely over-represented relative to Atlanta and other cities.
This presents a problem with fairness as players from some cities have a leg up on the competition. They need to devise a system where each MLB city has the same number of representatives in the voting body. Maybe more if there are 2 teams in a city and maybe even on a rotating basis so not all of a city’s BBWAA members will vote every year.

He is 32 and needs another 10-15 WAR to be a sure thing with his defense. Although the threshold seems to be lowering each year. Hopefully he doesn't fall off like Evan Longoria did. Although he has been healthier it just takes one season.

My motto is.........If you have to debate/think about whether they should be in the HOF....then they arent a HOF.
Aside from first ballot guys every HOF player has been debated and thought about. Only about 20% of all hall of fame players were elected on the first ballot. You would eliminate 80% of all HOF players. That takes “small hall” to a whole other level.

While MLB is not a regional sport, the eastern seaboard dominates baseball media. The AL East is to baseball what the SEC is to college football without all of the recent domination.

Pujols will be first ballot here soon.

Arenado is arguably the greatest defensive third baseman to ever play the game. That, combined with his offensive numbers will get him to the hall by the time his career is over.

As well as Beltre, Ichiro, then Verlander, Scherzer, and Miggy once they retire.
ETA: Those guys will be first ballot. A few other guys could be in as well like Mauer, Sabathia, and Posey.

No love for Utley? 2nd highest WAR in the class.
Posted on 3/14/23 at 7:18 pm to UltimateHog
Utley probably has a better resume than I realize. Higher career OPS than Beltre.
Posted on 3/14/23 at 7:21 pm to LSUBoo
He really does, it's pretty surprising.

Beltre crushes him in the counting stats, though. Plus the 3k hits and platinum gloves.

10 year career, 10 Gold Gloves. 7 AS appearences, leader in HR 3 times, top 8 in MVP voting 6 times. Yeah, dudes a HOFer.
