I'm guessing you are a fat, Non-compliant patient who wants to tell the doctor how to practice, while you live on taco bell and candy bars.

Primary doc? Com'on man - find a good endocrinologist.

I hope I don’t end up dead because of this. My blood sugars have been running up to 440 mg/dl today. I will leave $5000 to chicken if you are told that I died.
You are definitely leaving something out of this equation.
Also, if you are this worried just go to the damn ER.

99.99999% chance you don't follow up regularly and haven't actually been seen in quite some time

Humulin insulin. She did approve a 11 day supply of novolin insulin
Humulin and Novolin are the SAME THING.
I would bet you need a prior authorization which is an insurance hoop your doctor needs to jump through for you. I bet that is what is mixed up with "physician approval"

If you feel bad go to the er. Issue seems pretty cut and dry.

Usually you can get an emergency amount of most medications at your normal pharmacy that will last for 3-4 days. Is Walmart where you normally pick up your medications? If not they may not want to give you anything.

Most of my Rx is at CVS. Insulin is picked up at CVS but I two other meds I get at Walmart.

This, I think by law they can’t prescribe anything if you haven’t seen them in a year….but from what I understand a pharmacy has to give you insulin in an emergency.

Don't go clogging up our waiting room like that. But for real Dr. Wood is great. And for the OP, if my sugar was that high, doc would have me in his office weekly. If apointments don't work, get to the ER and drop that sugar before your foot falls off.

If you require such high doses that you need U-500, you should be seeing an endocrinologist. In the meantime, if you are out of insulin with sugars that high, go to the ER.

Sorry to hear you are going through this. If you were at my pharmacy I'd advise you to get on the teledoc app and just ask the prescriber that calls you for the refill. Upload a pic of the most recent pharmacy label from your box of U 500 for the appointment. Tell them you can't get in touch with primary. They will send a prescription to the pharmacy in 10 minutes. Teledoc is usually a low copay too. Good luck.
Previous posters are correct about them not getting reimbursed without labs and standard care, but if you made the soonest appointment they had, prepaid and have had labs within a year I'd find a new provider. Withholding pump insulin under the above circumstances is not good practice.

If you are on that much insulin and type 2 then that means you are non-compliant…that’s why she won’t give you refills because she wants you to come to the office more so that maybe one day you will get it…..
that more insulin isn’t the answer to your problem.
