My primary care Dr. refuses to give me a refill on my u-500 Humulin insulin. She did approve a 11 day supply of novolin insulin which is too weak of an insulin. Either way, I will have no more insulin after tonight unless my Dr. Approves a refill on Monday.

I asked for a refill 4 days ago and she said no. I’m not asking for pain pills. I need insulin to live.

I have no idea. She is 67 years old and has worked in BR for over 40 years. I have a portal to Oschner but communication is very difficult as the staff doesn’t tell me why I can’t get my old insulin refilled.

I have a physical scheduled for two weeks that I already prepaid for. I don’t know why I am having problems with my Dr.

Yes you can buy from Walmart with no prescription

It’s not recommended for use in a pump, I’m assuming type 1?

Probably needs to measure blood sugar, and OP hasn't complied. Hospital systems often set testing limits for conditions which the docs can't violate or they won't be paid.

Same thing goes for BP medication at least, even though it's close to 80 cents a month, like they've done to friends.

There has got to be some reason she is refusing a refill. Have you not been to see her in a very long time? At some point doctors will cut off refills of medicine, even medicine necessary for life, if you just never show up to your appointments. I doubt she will put her license on the line. What details are we not getting?

I hope I don’t end up dead because of this. My blood sugars have been running up to 440 mg/dl today.

I will leave $5000 to chicken if you are told that I died.

Maybe your A1C levels no longer indicate the need for insulin? I just don’t understand how you haven’t had a face to face conversation with her to ask.

Edit: well, not if you are running around 400 on testing…
