How much do you have built up in CC points/rewards?

And when you do decide to deploy the money.

I'm sitting at $1,640 on my main card. It's been building for quite some time. Thinking of seeing if I can hold out until I hit 5k.

I saw Dave Portnoy has like nearly a billion Amex points or something.

Racking up CC points for the sake of the points is like sticking cash I’m under the mattress.

If you got ‘em, spend em. You cant do much else with them and prices generally only move in one direction.

Not sure why you would hoard them, as they tend to devalue over time

I use them on occasion to offsite flight costs. Traveling with a family of five gets expensive quick. I think I have about 900k. Planning an all out cash burn trip to Disney in a couple of the years so probably will use most if not all points then.

As others have said, if you're just getting cash back, there is no financial reason to leave them on the card.

I got sign-on bonus a couple years ago with my Chase Sapphire with the intention of using the points for our 10-year anniversary this year. 130k points later and we're going to an all-inclusive resort in Punta Cana using only points. (Southwest flights are cheap at the right time of the year and Hyatt points are insanely valuable as a transfer partner...)

If it's cash back you're just giving them a interest free loan.

Cash it out and put it savings or respend it.

If Cash back it's always better to deposit to your account if possible instead of a statement credit.

Let's say you spend 100 and get 5% back (5 dollars).

If you credit statement it's only worth 5 dollars, but if you direct deposit it and spend it again it's worth 5 dollars plus another 5% of 5 dollars. So $5.25.

If I spend money and it isn't towards an MSR I feel like I'm wasting money. Right now I'm focused on Chase Ultimate Reward points because they're very easy to build up and I have visions of flying my wife and I to Europe in first class.

Down to about 400k, used points for our annual Christmas trip (Gatlinburg this year).

Will be wiping them out over the summer to bring the kids to Disney. Right now, on pace to get our flights, hotel, and park tickets for 6 days paid for through points.

I just used my airline credit card points (both American and Delta) to book 2 sets of airline tickets for traveling this summer for free.

Too many.

One canceled trip in 2018 would have knocked off a 1/3 million and then kids.

Should be burning about half a million here soon between flights and hotel for next trip

As for people getting Chase UR, I feel like I basically use that for Hyatt hotels 90% of the time and with kids now, pretty substantially on suites or connecting rooms. I turn those over a lot.

I hit those lucrative Amex Platinum deals during COVID so I have way too many of those

I've never racked them up before.

We get a check from Costco for about $800/yr in cashback points for the Costco card.

My wife has a TJ Maxx card that she uses for points. I don't have a clue about it at all other than sure feels it is better than the Costco visa.

I’ve got 116,000 Hilton points now after booking a week in Omaha just in case LSU makes the College World Series. That’s another 240,000. I also used Hilton points for a 3 day Bourbon Trail trip in May that was about 100,000. Got almost 90,000 United miles and a few thousand BoA rewards points. Got 70,000-100,000 miles with Alaskan Air and Air Canada from some new card deals. Those are interchangeable with United I believe. Thinking about doing Finland and Belgium with my dad in August on these.

I hold my Discover cash back for when Amazon does 20-30% with points, other than that most get cashed out automatically as a bill credit.

Got $400 in cash back on my discover and almost $300 on my chase sapphire

Will be using them soon I think. Don’t really have any travel plans or flight costs to offset

It depends on which card.

Generally, redeeming points for travel through the Chase/Amex portal is high value. Redeeming points for retail items is nearly without question, the absolute worst redemption value available. Redeem for 3 nights in an $800 a night hotel, or get a $200 ladder, your choice

I dump my cashback rewards into my Roth IRA every quarter. It's about $150/month between the 3 I use. Letting my daily spending fund 20% of my annually contribution is nice.

One Visa card is set for a statement credit every time cash back builds to $25.

Discover, I keep a few hundred in cashback balance to trade in for Lands End gift cards as needed. They give you a little extra, like spend $90 in cashback and get a $100 e-card.

One Visa, I have let cashback build to about $1,800. It’s dumb because I earn no interest on the cashback sitting there, but I’m saving it to apply to the balance after a vacation later this year, to take some sting out of that big bill. Financially dumb perhaps, but it’s a psychological benefit.
