Looking for recommendations on a wireless dog fence. I've had the pet safe in the past and every time I replaced the battery in the collar they would die at different intervals. One time I replaced the battery and it lasted a week causing my dog to run off and get hit on the highway. Also, thunderstorms would cause the collar to go off.

I like the concept of the HALO collar but it only has a 20HR battery life. Maybe a hard wire fence will be my best option. Let me know your experiences.

The hardwire extreme dog fence has been great for us, pain in the arse to install correctly, but once that is done no issues

I have six acres of wired perimeter and never have any problems. Don’t use the cheap green wire go get thicker gauge stuff and bury it correctly and I’ll bet you don’t have any problems either

petsafe I think
the controller is in my barn

go to an electrical supply place or order online the heavy gauge black wire and throw the green stuff away. And consider professional install. I did the 1st install myself with an edger (LOL) and it didn’t last. If you do it yourself go rent a ground saw and do it when the yard is good and dry

I see where I can rent a wire trencher from Home Depot. That may be the way to go being it feeds the wire as you trench.

yes that’s what the pro installers use. If you have a clear path and not too many tree roots that will work

I had to use the ground saw to get thru some sketchy spots

I rented the machine from Home Depot and installed the system made by Sport Dog. I had it installed and functioning on a half acre all the way around my house in less than an hour. That machine is the way to go.

I had Dog Guard put a underground fence in for me last May. Been great so far.
