For his offense to be successful the qb has to be a threat to run. Lee obviously is not.

no he didn't

and it got better when he left and they got a spread option OC (instead of a spread OC who was learning the spread option) to run it. just for the record

man

you people have not followed crowton's career

he didn't even run spread option until he went to oregon, and he didn't run it well

crowton is a spread offense. think texas tech. that is his bread and butter

John Beck in 2004: no running
Matt Berry in 2003: no running
QBs in 2002: no running
NFL stint: spread offense
La Tech: spread offense

etc

he went to oregon and started to learn the spread option

now he's at LSU trying to learn how to incorporate i-form power football into his offense

i love when people say i don't know what i'm talking about when they talk about gary crowton's success needing a mobile QB. he wasn't successful with a mobile QB at oregon his last year (compared to 2007), and the only other year he's had one is flynn, and he wasn't THAT mobile

if crowton had his way, we'd run 4/5 wide the vast majority of the time and sling it around all game

if miles had his way, we'd line up in i-form the vast majority of the time and run it up the gut all game

the 2 are working on how to do it all in 1 offense, but you can see the lack of rhythm at some points

And that is the truth. Good point on Rim Rattay also. I was told here a year and a half ago that Fisher would destroy FSU. That is not exactly the case now with a #19 ranking and that is with the gt fumble on the goal line they may have made the top 10 without it.

Scoring offense The Wizard 22 FSU 18
Total offense The wizard 33 FSU 37
Rushing offense The Wizard 23 FSU 19
Passing efficiency Wizard 69 FSU 72 (Both young quarterbacks)

Didn't Crowton get run out of Oregon? I know the fans were very pleased when he left.

I think he is horrible and he should be replaced. You cannot continue to throw the ball with Jarret "Pick Six" Lee as your QB.

Yet Crowton has continued to call aggressive play calling with the most substandard QB LSU has had in decades.

I know you guys question alot of his play calling as do I sometimes. However, he built that offense you saw last year with Dennis Dixon. He has yet to have a quarterback learn his system in and out and yet we still put up huge numbers.
Just wait and see when Jefferson and Sheppard grow with this system. Imagine this system with expirienced QB's, WR's, RB's, O-line and TE's......Just wait till it hits its potential with the perfect blend of power and speed. I cant wait!
------------------------------------------------

You can't wait but you must wait because it ain't happening this year.

I fear one day our offense will evolve into what Fla and Tx Tech run. On a simple 3rd and 1 they go 5 wide with 2 or three people going in motion. Have we even recruited a FB to take over for Q. Johnson?

You know gimmicky type offenses. I don't know if it is 3rd and 1 or 2,,I would think most would prefer to just line up in the power I and have a go of it.

I'm a power running game type of person, so I hear ya for sure.

But Texas Tech and Florida have great offenses in their own right. And believe it or not, they are not over complicated by any means.

I just say, do what you do best. And do it more often.

I noticed one thing about Texas Tech that works for them. The wide receiver takes off like he is going to streak down the sidelines and then stops as fast as he can runs back about ten yards and the ball is waitng for him when he gets there. It generally left the defensive back just standing there looking perplexed just as the guy caught the ball.

In every game of 60+ plays there’s always gonna be a few that in hindsight you’d want a do-over on. But in the bigger scheme of things GC is great. We scored more points on Bama this year than anyone but GA (sort of a fluke game). And we probably rushed for more yards than anyone. How many other OC’s are there that could have taken our talent/situation and done better? We’re just handicapped at that all important QB position.
