LSU MBB could definitely get a big time coach if we simply foot the bill.

Look at how much SW paid KM to bring her here.

The issue is that I’m not sure if the culture of LSU sports cares enough to pay for a big time coach in MBB, as much as that sucks.

That’s how I feel about Tari Eason. (Even though ik it doesn’t compare to Shaq and CJ)

I had the ability to tell Tari he was the best player on the team in person early on in the season before he started going off in conference play.

Later that day, I went out of my way to tell WW’s GM that Tari was the best player on the team and he laughed in my face. At the time, he wasn’t anything more than another rotation player. Served him right once he started playing great later that season.
At no point last year was Eason just "another rotation player".

To protect football yes, thats not even a serious question.

I never realized how emotional basketball "fans" are. Pop a tampon in and soldier on, its going to be ok.

21 minutes against ULM, and less than 20 against liberty and Belmont. Sounds like the minutes of another rotation player if you ask me.

No one is playing 35 minutes in a blowout. Eason came off the bench as a choice. Calling him "another rotation player" is dismissive and if anyone thought he wasn't one of the best players on the team early on then they truly just don't know basketball.

What is your problem? Bruce was fired at Tennessee for illegal recruiting. It took two or three coaches before they recovered. Barnes has them back on track Then Bruce went to Auburn where he repeated illegal activities. His assistant took the heat and was first sentenced to prison. I think they eventually let the assistant stay out of prison. Bruce is still coaching.

“Illegal recruiting” isn’t what really got Pearl. He held a BBQ for recruits at the wrong time. If it was a L1, it still wouldn’t have been a big punishment. It probably would have just been an L2 violation if the program had admitted it and moved on.

What got Pearl is that he lied about it and obstructed the NCAA investigation. The NCAA was able to verify it happened and they hit him with a show cause. Sampson’s situation was very similar. He was contacting recruits improperly during a dead period, which is a relatively minor violation. But he also lied about it and the NCAA nailed him.

IU and UT both fired Sampson and Pearl before show causes came down. They knew what was coming. I don’t know if the NCAA tipped them off or they just read the tea leaves because their NOAs included allegations of the head coach lying and obstructing. Either way, THAT is the reason Wade isn’t here anymore. ADs know what’s coming if that direct allegation is made.

Most schools don’t get hit hard if the bulk of the allegations fall on a coach. UT didn’t when Pearl got his show cause. Also, the IARP hasn’t been handing out severe punishments. NC State, Louisville and Memphis all got “probation,” which was mostly short scholarship reductions and fines. No show causes, suspensions, or postseason bans.

Put those together and the program likely gets a slap on the wrist and Wade gets a show cause.

You have to understand posters like him are going to select statements and phrases then take them out of context to completely twist what you say. They’re very shady, they’re not LSU basketball fans and they can’t have educated discussions on basketball so they use underhanded argumentative tactics.

Sucks that LSU isn’t a basketball school. My short time on here I’ve noticed most of our fans don’t know what they’re talking about when it comes to basketball.

People will literally go on a basketball thread and say, “who cares?? We have football and baseball!”

No one asked.

It’s just funny that they call themselves LSU fans. We have a portion of the fanbase that actually hates the basketball team which means they’re not really LSU fans.

I do think the remainder of the season he needs to give the freshman Ward,Reed and Phillips much more playing time so they improve because they will be counted on heavily next year if they don’t transfer just my take on it.

How am I ignoring it? You thought that everyone else viewed Eason as "another rotation player" while you think you were special for seeing that Eason was the best player on the team.

I don't know who the GM was last year or exactly why he laughed in your face. I would think it was more likely that he knew Eason was one of the best players and he was laughing at you for thinking you had some nugget of enlightenment to share. Now if he truly didn't think much of Eason, then he was an idiot. Just not sure how anyone who has experience around basketball could watch Eason early in that season and not see how good he was.

I think that’s what he’s been doing recently with Ward starting, Reed getting more minutes again, and Phillips seeing the floor finally.

Kendal Coleman is the definition of hot garbage and is not a quality D1 basketball player. Him getting minutes over Reed and Phillips is MM’s biggest questionable decision to me. It was nice to see him not play at all against Bama.

I’m 50/50 on Ward staying, Reed is 100% staying, and I’m positive Phillips is gone. His story posts on IG have been indicative of his desire to leave.

Logic would say that he gets a huge show cause because of his direct involvement in multiple violations and that he has not cooperated for one minute with the NCAA (or LSU for that matter).

It would literally defy logic for Will Wade to skate.
