Micah Haley here, film producer and LSU alum.
During the doldrums of COVID, I went into the wilderness with Nicolas Cage (and a band of misfit artisan filmmakers) to produce the master thespian's first Western! Cage plays a retired gunslinger named Colton Briggs, who hunts down some killers with the help of his 12 year old daughter. It's a throwback to classic Westerns like UNFORGIVEN and TRUE GRIT. Really a good time... no 3-D glasses required.
The movie was fully financed and produced by Louisiana-based Intercut Capital, and after we finished shooting it in the Montana desert, we brought it home for post-production. It features an original score by Lafayette native Andrew Morgan Smith. The final color and sound design were crafted in New Orleans by Bradley Greer's Kyotocolor and Apex Post. It's been a labor of love!
THE OLD WAY hits theaters on Friday, January 6! You can check out the trailer here: OLD WAY Trailer
Other familiar faces you might recognize include Nick Searcy (JUSTIFIED), the legend himself Clint Howard (ICE CREAM MAN), Shiloh Fernandez (EVIL DEAD) and the young talented Ryan Kiera Armstrong (FIRESTARTER).
Happy to answer any questions about the movie, filmmaking in general, film finance, etc.
Or we can just dunk on Bama.

Nic Cage is one of the greats.

Love me some Cage. Will check this out, thanks for the heads up.

I’m looking forward to checking this one out. Nic Cage is great. Also, I think many people are looking for just good entertaining fun movies without all of the woke garbage. Still blows my mind that Hollywood can’t figure out how Top Gun did so great, but basically everything else flops. We just want to be entertained without being preached to.

I'll give it a try. I like westerns and I like Nick Cage, so yeah.
Lumping these two together kind of throws me. For me, they are not really similar movies - except for the elderly protagonists. Both good movies in their own right, but I think UNFORGIVEN is a ways above.

Is there any nudity, violence, or smoking in this movie?
What were some of the snacks that you had available to Cage while on set?
Are there horses in this movie?

Congrats on such a monumental achievement, Micah. I'll be sure to spread the word on social media about The Old Way. As a distributed feature-length filmmaker myself, any chance I could pick your brain offline sometime?

Love me some revenge porn, will check it out to support either way.
I was in the industry years ago on the production side. Just got back in late 2020 as a producer financing some small projects, hopefully one kicks off.

Was Alec Baldwin not available? For some reason, I think the audience is ready to accept him as a stone cold killer.
