I couldn’t remember his name but I’ve been thinking this the last couple months about Ricks. Bama was always there.

Agreed, and like A&M's best ever recruiting class last year, pay them enough and they're suddenly "rich" and can't focus even if they want to. They focus more on not getting hurt so they can make it to the next level.

This is the part some seem to not be grasping. If I'm a recruit and my numbers are approaching this, let the bidding commence. Who in their right mind at 17 is gonna turn that away, particularly when the adults are leading the charge? It's not Bamas fault they are willing to pay more than us if that's the case. That's completely on us. At a point though enough has to be enough for some staffs. Maybe ours is one of those. I'm ok with that

This. You set up a dangerous precedent for future recruits. I don’t want LSU to turn into the dumpster fire at A&M.

There’s definitely seems to be a stopping point. We hit it last year with Jacoby and again this year with Ricks.

If you think a team paying a high school recruit over 5 million is winning you couldn’t be more wrong.

Who is saying $5million?

Bryce Young didn't even have that...

Lmao I’m glad there are at least some sane people on this board. It’s a huge bummer to lose ricks but seeing all these grown arse men—who would switch jobs in 0.1 seconds if they were offered even a $50k raise—act like it is beyond the pale for someone to switch their college choice based on numbers orders of magnitude bigger than that is truly embarrassing.

This is a dead serious question: what in the actual frick has to happen in someone’s life for them to turn into an adult human man who legitimately thinks it is indicative of bad moral character for a kid to accept a million dollar payday?

The sickening thing is Bama can always come late to the party and take nearly whoever they want. Bama has like six 5 stars, right? Sickening.

Hope Ricks somehow chooses LSU today.

A lot of factors only Ricks can answer. There is a reason he liked LSU over Bama for much of this recruitment. Maybe he felt more at home, the atmosphere, maybe the coaches/position coaches he can relate to/develop him more for the NFL.

Maybe some of the the people are calling out are adults and realize money is a factor but not the only factor. Nothing worse than being miserable at a place you don't want to be, around people you don't like all for the paycheck only to possibly not grow your role like you hoped.

Ricks will be a better player coming out of LSU than Ala. Better opportunity and legendary history ready to help him at LSU.

If I am getting a substantial amount more money, then sign me up for 3 years of misery. Just because it has been reported he liked LSU more (is that the actual truth), then that doesn't mean he dislikes Bama, Saban, or his future teammates.

If true, then i suspect foul play. Perhaps he was tempted by the offering of an older man’s bung hole. Maybe it was the opportunity to be nude among like minded men. Or it may be that he deeply yearns for the special closeness only offered by Alabama all male group games. Whatever the case, it is now clear the laws of the ncaa and nature have been broken. What will be done?

He like LSU to visit them more and be the projected leader for months. He had no real interest in Bama until 18hrs ago, quite a gamble on your future. And how do we know it is a "substantial amount more money "? We don't know the real offer was from Bama nor know what LSU offered.

if i could send a single message to Ricks.
if you have two really good financial offers, you should choose where your heart tells you.
as someone who is in there late 30s, i can tell you that as you get older you have less choices to do things you are totally passionate for.
you have years of going to the NFL and making more money, but at that point you are told where to go and who to play with and for.
right now you get to choose, and you have your entire life to make money. for now you should choose your passion, wherever that may be.

I highly doubt there was no real interest in Bama until 18 hrs ago, but regardless, the game has changed. These guys want to get paid now, and then go on to the NFL and get paid again. I'd hardly say going to Bama would be "quite a gamble" if that is the end game.

The "gamble" wasn't implying might not make it to the next level, rather gamble on if the school is a good fit for him/get developed like he hopes.
