I switched over to the Ego Weed Eater and Blower and really like them. Is battery technology good enough to switch over to the mower as well? Also, can they handle wet grass in a Louisiana summer? I hose down my mower all the time. How do you clean them?

I don't know how prevalent it is, but those battery mowers can catch fire. I have two folks I know that it happened to.....with no real "cause". That's kinda scary.

I dont think we are there yet, unless you have a very small yard, like garden home

Have had one for 4-5 years and it’s still going strong on the original battery. Works fine on high wet grass like any other mower

-ETA I’ve got a corner lot and cut my whole front and back on a single charge, if the grass is particularly long it will die before I finish, just leave it where it is, throw the battery on the charger, go drink a beer by the pool then finish.

I take the battery out and hose it down all the time, not sure if you’re suppose to or not but it’s dry by the next time I use it a week later and I’ve never had a problem.

I recently switched to the battery edger and blower. No chance of a battery mower in south Louisiana

Depends on how small the yard. If small yard and you mow every few days, you may get away with it. If you let your grass get a week's worth of summer growth, you're gonna have issues (at least with a40v Kobalt).

Ego was head and shoulders above the rest a couple of years ago but others are stepping up their game. I have an ego self propelled. My next step is a robot mower. I MIGHT try a cheaper one in the back yard this summer, I am undecided. Rumor is ego is coming out with a GPS based mower that doesn't require wire boundaries

I have an EGO chainsaw, blower, pruner, edger, weedeater, etc. They work great and I like using them for my yard (1 acre), but one of my batteries is failing and two don't hold a charge like they used to. Those batteries in question are 3 to 4 years old.

I have to make sure I have all 5 charged each time a do the yard and rotate them on the charger to be safe.

I think the machines are great, but the battery longevity concerns me.

I have an Ego mower I just bought this summer. It handles tall and wet grass pretty darn well. It has a 7.5 ah battery and I can do my whole yard on one charge using the self-propelled drive.

I really like it. It is much quieter than gas. I can put in my AirPod Pros and with noise cancelling I can listen to music at normal volume.

I have an Ego mower (3 years) with a yard that takes an hour to mow. All is fine, no hassle with gasoline or oil.

Never for me. I have a Ryobi hedge trimmer. Barely trims one small set of bushes and then dead as can be.
Sucks.

With Honda exiting the lawnmower market I would get an HRX now before they are gone.

I have the original ego mower, just about 5 years. Works fine, wet, tall, etc.. I don't bag, but mulch instead. Occasionally bogs down and lifting the deck solves that. Battery just quit on me at the end of this summer and I will get a replacement in the spring. Blower and battery still going strong

We have some EGO zero turns at Hills Equipment. I was skeptical but they are actually pretty impressive. Also has a 5 year mower warranty and 3 year battery. As far as I can tell, we have the best price too! $4,995.

I like my Kobalt 80v setup just fine.

To be fair, I only bought it because my wife needed to mow once and refused to use the Greenworks plug-in mower with my 80ft extension cord. I liked that thing just fine for my yard (corner lot, 1/4 acre , back is fenced and landscaped along the fencing, and i am landscaped all along the front and side as well.

If I had any bigger of a yard, the plug in would’ve been out. If my yard were up to about double the size, i would probably still use the battery.

I can’t wait til my wife approves 5-10 acres in the middle of nowhere.

It is never a good time to buy a battery powered mower...gas mowers last for decades if you keep them out the weather, and never leave gas in the carburetor...

Push mower? I have the Stihl RMA 510V. My yard has a spot or two my Exmark ECX 21" was too heavy for when they were wett-ish. I bought the RMA 510 to use in those times since I have all the Stihl pro-line battery stuff. I use the Stihl 90% of the time now. Generally speaking it has the power to handle wet grass and heavy growth to an extent. I keep my yard mowed around 2.5" and it usually keeps up as long as it isn't 4"+ or so.

I hose mine down. I'm careful with it, usually propping it up and only spraying off the underside of the deck and blowing off the rest but I haven't had issues yet.

It isn't for everyone and the price is ridiculous if we're being honest. My battery Stihl Kombi unit is the absolute shite but I think the mowers are still probably 2-3 years away from being strong replacements tech wise. Price wise IDK when they'll become practical.
