Exactly. People that don’t know football don’t understand this.

It was his second read in a fast developing play. By the time he looked left, to hit Jenkins in stride, he would have sailed it out of the corner of the end zone. So he floated one right by the pylon to give Jenkins, who was way taller and more physical than both double covering him, to come back and get it.

If the corner turned around, Jenkins plays defense and breaks it up.

You don’t throw that ball on a tall corner like Eli Ricks. And I think JD knows that.

It's not ignoring the throw at all it's acknowledging that even bad passes produce positive results...which is why you throw them alot of the time rather than running. The OM defender wasn't even playing the WR, he was playing the ball the problem was he isn't good enough to outplay Jenkins which is exactly why you throw it. It doesn't even need to be a good pass because statistically, in that matchup a positive result is more likely than a turnover.

I wouldn't say that. Saban will run alot of bracket coverage. It's upon Daniels to find the crossing and underneath routes and identify the single coverage and continue to throw those 50/50 balls. It doesnt matter if it's Ricks or Revis out there....you play the odds and the odds are still in LSUs favor there. Take tne incomplete if you have to, hope for the TD or PI but you can live with an INT if Jenkins just get outplayed.

Well thank you for stating the obvious.

I’d also like Joe Burrow back. Is that an option?

Not complaining about a TD,

You are complaining and it’s hilarious bc you sound like a miserable person complaining about a play that resulted in 6….

Throws like that are usually incomplete or intercepted

Except when they’re not….

What actually happened was a completion for a tuddy … Making up a completely different play/result and saying “well it “usually” happens” is the dumbest thing ever. The fact that it didn’t happen is exactly why Football and other real sports are played on the field. Bc the best teams/athletes find ways to make plays and deviate from the norm.

JD5 throws often like an average HS QB.

Is this supposed to be an insult or criticism of Daniels or are you trying to show everyone how delusional you are?
He has the 5th most passing yards in the SEC, he’s throwing for abt 8 yards per, has 12 tuddys and 1 pick…
Name a Highschool QB that would put up those type of passing stats through 8 games vs. D1, better yet SEC, level competition…

Jenkins was double cover
No he wasn't. He was wide open. That's why both DBs were still looking at him and never looked back at the ball. It was just thrown late and short. I literally watched that whole route develop from my seat. If it was thrown 1.5 seconds earlier, Jenkins walks in untouched.

100% false? Hahahahahaaaaa
Daniels needs to improve his read and react. That’s pretty much it.

His stats are misleading. What i am saying is that against a really good defense those mistakes may turn the game against LSU. Maybe this is just too much for you to see. Not insulting anyone but Daniels will have to play much better to beat the best teams. He frequently checks down when a WR is OPEN down field. This is just a fact, friend. Don’t care if you disagree.

100% agree. This is FAR better than the alternative of conservative Daniels we saw in the first 5 games. The field has opened up because defenses know he is willing to throw it and that our receivers can make plays, even if the ball isn’t perfect. This extra space is also making it easier for the backs and Daniels to run the football.

All that said, it’s not a bad thing that there’s room for Daniels to improve even more. He did have some inaccurate passes and at least the one bailout by Jenkins vs Ole Miss, but there’s still a lot more good than bad right now. If he can tighten up a bit more and throw a few of these deep balls a second earlier, then this offense will be a real handful down the stretch.

Just try to say something nice and positive about they guy. There’s plenty to like. He does some things very well.

Obviously I do not know him, but from what I can tell he’d be a great teammate. Do not apologize for being critical i.e. objective about his play. I think if he could understand the coverages better and time his passes better LSU’s offense would be a juggernaut. Those deficiencies will make the difference in a close game.

What percentage of passes and passing yards have the WRs this year? I think that would be illuminating to know.

Cheers

JD5 is not in the top 50 of yards per attempt. Not so great. YPA 7.7.

P5 yards per attempt

I think this is the result of his difficulty finding the open guys downfield.

and maybe the only coach with 3 wins vs Saban at Bama.

Malzahn beat him 3 times, and he didn't need to get his victory in 2007 like Miles did against a terrible un-Saban like Bama Independence bowl team.
Auburn has beaten him 5 times to LSU's 4. No one else has more than 2.

I will add that of the 10 times Auburn has lost to Saban, almost all have been arse whippings except for 2. LSU has lost in the closing minutes to them 6 of the 12 times they've lost. They've only gotten severely whipped 3 of those 12 times.

LSU has thrown for 2135 so far this year and Daniels accounts for over 1800 of those.

Of those 2135 yards:
136 passes and 1658 yds have been caught by 8 different WRs
25 passes and 243yds by TEs
28 passes and 234 by RBs

Or maybe bc just like you, I have no idea what goes on in the huddle or what is said on the sidelines. I can see what I think should happen, and disagree with the execution sometimes maybe, but I’m not going to slam and criticize the players based off of my opinion

You’re the type of person who like never makes mistakes, and thinks everyone except you is wrong, huh? You have no idea what JD is being told by his coaches or if he was told specifically to throw it to someone or not

i got no problem analyzing play and pointing out flaws, but really, man, no one is perfect. the last 2 games Daniels has shown incredible improvement with his passing. he has improved his reads and anticipatory throws. you just can't dispute that when the SEC postgameday guys break down some of the plays and show it.

I was very worried about Daniels but i can say now i am very pleased with what he is showing and i will continue to be if he keeps it up.

btw, i haven't seen that alabama's secondary is all that. i expect us to have success against them, not only because of JD's improvement, but also because of the Oline.
