not having this game every year is nuts

I agree completely, especially now that Tulane plays competitive football.

Tulane, the last game of the season, was an inviolable tradition. And it remained so up through 1994.

You DO know that there are universities that don't have football as their highest priority, right? Different universities excel at different things.

You must not be familiar with Tulane these days. They’re not your father’s egghead school down the street.

They’ve fully embraced the wokeness and the academics have gone out with it

Incredible rivalries are not that one sided

Bedlam is more one-sided than LSU-Tulane, and I think most people still consider that to be a great rivalry.

Just as weenie greed got in the way of continuing the LSU / weenie football series, they pulled the same shite with regards to the old Winn Dixie Challenge in baseball. Their A.D, subsequently fired in a sexual scandal involving a weenie athlete, pushed Skip to give them more of the 9 game weekend gate. Which LSU was dominating in just its 3 games. In addition to not coming close to matching any of LSU crowds in their own 3 game series. Skip told her he made more money in a 3 game weekend series in The Box & invited her to take a hike. LSU pulled out & the challenge collapsed. Money is all that the weenies focus / ed on & it's cost them with regards to playing LSU. And notice how many weenies are in this thread. They don't care, why should LSU?

Bitch Slappin' Tulane every year would be similar to beating Centenary, Millsaps or Louisiana Christian.

Oklahoma State actually has pretty good teams fairly regularly lately. Tulane not so much.
Not a good comparison.

And they still can't beat OU regularly.

Tulane's last win was a fluke victory 40 years ago. Forty. Cuarenta anos. That's a long time.

Are you really stating that the LSU Tulane series is an incredible rivalry or are you just stating an irrelevant statistic? The only reason OK OK State is considered a rivalry is because OK State is actually relevant lately.

LSU not playing Tulane in a high school stadium
And leaving money on the table for a non conf game
That’s the issue

It's a nostalgic rivalry but not an incredible one.

Agreed. My father played on LSU team in late fifties, early 60s. LSU beat the greenie weenies 63-0. Team was angry that at half, Coach Dietzel had the offense playing defense and the defense playing offense. Players wanted to hang 100 points on them.

Last victory was 40 years ago but it was nowhere near a “fluke.” And here are rivalries that are similarly “one sided”

Bedlam
Tennessee vs vandy
Since about 1960 Georgia vs Georgia Tech
LSU vs Alabama

A deal was worked out by Skip Bertman to continue the series on financial terms that recognize a huge state school like lsu puts more fannies in the seats for a sporting event than a small highly selective private school like Tulane. That deal was nixed by lsu not Tulane.

Good for Tulane. I don't have any animosity toward them.

Yeah, but ok to play UAB and Southern but kill a century old rivalry

Yeah sorry we don't play home and home against UAB type teams and we've played Southern exactly once.

Tulane wanted to continue home and home and that ain't happening.

Also, rivalry?? I am 53 and they beat lsu like twice that I recall. Go look up the series record and get back to me on that rivalry BS

Aside from UGA/GT, those are all conference games, same DIVISION.
And at least GT is P5. Tulane chose to leave the SEC. Deal with it
