I like Kelly and believe he will do well in the long run, but he lost a lot of respect from me basically protecting Daniels from criticism at the expense and dénégation of the entire rest of the team.

The best coaches being players up and hold them accountable. They don’t keep babying a 4th year starter who has shown no development in his 4 years of college play.

This is eerily similar to Mike’s’ consistent protection of JJ that honestly likely hurt him from improving.

This is my biggest concern with Kelly moving forward. Horrible message to send to the team.

Yep. Almost worse than his fake southern drawl à la Hillary Clinton

The dude shouldn't be throwing anyone under the bus outside of himself. He leads with player issues but then uses "we need to coach better" to shield himself from criticism for the former.

They do need to coach better, and by that, I mean his homies calling the O and D need to be given new roles or shipped out.

I’m so tired of lsu recruiting “dual threat” quarterbacks that turn out to be single threat runners. Sure they can physically throw the ball but either are not coached correctly or do not posses the mental aptitude to command the field.

And of course we always have one dual and one pocket guy to add to the controversy. Recruit what offense you can effectively run. Not what you aspire to run.

He made a sarcastic comment and walked it back . His comment was code for “if you think Daniels was the reason we lost, yall are retarted” which is pretty accurate . He put it squarely on coaching decisions . If you think he is going to throw players and coaches under the bus by name, y’all have probably never lead any group of people to turn anything around in your life .

So what is he supposed to say when asked about the teams performance? If he mentions certain aspects not playing well, he’s throwing them under the bus. If he says the coaches have to coach better, including himself, he’s “shielding himself.”

This. People like to complain about the ‘we need to coach better’ speak. But the second he throws a player under the bus by name he’ll lose the locker room and he knows it.

Anyone that thinks Daniels is the sole reason we lost is an idiot.

That said, a coach making a stupid comment like that when younger is excusable. A supposed great and proven coach playing this stupidity is just embarrassing and will do nothing to help this team improve.

You already have people seek my you as refusing to shift from Daniels and then turn around and double down only to walk it back when you realize how awful it sounds.

Daniels was awful. He put up a bunch of yards, but couldn’t call out a pass rush or blitz to save his life.

Being able to run and throw don’t make you a good QB or the best. Being able to lead the team and get the best out of your teammates is.

Kelly simply seems to think he can do no wrong and it is reminding me of Jimbo because of his contract basically making him untouchable.
