Let me ask the rant this one. Why do non-Tiger fans believe that LSU is not a fun place to visit because the fans are rude and hostile?

I was asked this by an Aggie friend. He was saying that he’s always heard LSU fans are just assholes and was not wanting to go to a game at TS for this reason. I always thought LSU fans were the same as far as passion goes as Bama Florida Tennessee or Georgia fans. We will friendly taunt people but at the end of the day if an opposing fan comes to talk to a group of LSU fans, we will be cool and welcoming.

I told him it depends on the crowd you’re around. If it’s drunk college kids of course they’re gonna frick with you. But I would assume the adults are not that bad and would be cool. I suggested to go and just walk up to people saying that you’re here to check out all the traditions and everything then ask for some cool stuff to see or places to hang and drink or eat at. It’s almost a given that they’ll invite you in for a beer and a snack.

Thoughts?

I haven't gotten this impression from most fans of other schools I've talked to. But we all have bad apples.

The majority of visiting fans have a great time with our fans. Every fanbase has assholes. Also I have seen plenty of visiting team fans act like assholes, especially florida. Most of what you hear is people believing a few bad stories and not experiencing TS on their own.

Idk, i've gone to TS with Aggie friends, LA Tech friends and all were fine and they had a great experience.

Most opposing fans are betas that can't take a little shite-talking or tiger bait. It's a competition. Nobody is gonna hurt you as long as you're not acting like a jackass yourself. Most LSU fans are pretty welcoming.

Dude that’s what I told him. Basically you just gotta experience it yourself instead of going off of horror stories that are made up.

Living in HOU and working in oil and gas, I know quite a few Aggies. I always tell them that they should go to at least one game at Death Valley. Wear your gear, walk around and expect to get hollered at - but it's all in fun if you LET IT be fun. If you bow up when people holler "Tiger Bait," you're gonna have a bad time. But if you smile and give it back - say something like "Why do I smell corn dogs?" - expect to be invited to eat and drink at the tailgate and have a legit conversation about Jimbo's future as a perennial 8&4 coach. (Next stop Illinois, baby!)

There are always exceptions, but by and large I think the hospitality inherent to Louisiana wins out. And I remind them that I just smiled and nodded at the "LSWho's?" I got at Kyle Field in 2018. (gently prodding them that I visited your stadium and didn't lose my fanhood)

All anecdotal.

The only negative experience I have had with any fanbase was in Tiger Stadium with a very drunk Arkansas fan sucker punching a guy sitting in front of my nephews and I. I ended up kicking him to break it up because I was about to lose my shite at the thought of my nephews being accidentally hit.

Security came, removed him. LSU and Arkansas fans cheered. The end. It doesn't mean Arkansas fans are trash.

I grew up an LSU. I then went to a grad school where my classmates were comprised of people who attended a wide variety of SEC schools. One consensus opinion among those who attended other SEC schools was that LSU fans were assholes and one of, if not the worst, fanbases in the SEC. Georgia fans didn't like Florida fans. Alabama fans didn't like Auburn fans. Ole Miss fans didn't like Mississippi St. fans...but they ALL didn't like LSU fans.

I've been fortunate enough to attend games at many different venues and can say, at minimum, LSU fans are generally the most obnoxious among those in the SEC. That's not to say there aren't many, many great LSU fans. Nor that there aren't any obnoxious assholes among other SEC fanbases. But as a whole, LSU fans are more obnoxious.

I think many LSU fans take that as a badge of honor and purposely try to increase the obnoxiousness levels because of it...which is kind of sad because there are many more really good LSU fans. But in listening to the opinions of other people who aren't LSU fans it is no uncommon to hear them speak of bad experiences with LSU fans.

Aggies are the worst of all of them. The Karen of the universities joined the SEC

When I was younger, I was a fkn horse's arse to opposing fans, but I got over that. Much more fun to be a gracious host, which is what most of LSU tailgaters are. Its a great place to go for a football game.

I actually like to visit with guests more than I do tiger fans because you get to have conversations with people and see where they’re from and where else they’ve been to. You get to give LSU a good reputation. I like to give them suggestions on places to see like Mike, Chimes, the tiger walk, pregame march and the statues around campus. If they’re college aged I’ll point them in the direction of Tigerland.

There a people who get completely bent out of shape from "tiger bait" chants. Their problem, not mine.

In 2018, I remember UGA fans being appalled by STTDB. In reality, they were just sad they got stomped.

Moral of the story... frick em

Yeah I think the tiger bait is fun but chanting STTDB and oh we oh you suck at opposing fans is a little classless. Doing that stuff in the student section while the band is playing is ok but just randomly doing it while walking around campus is trash.

There is your problem. Hearsay. Either that or whoever he heard from was prob an a-hole who didnt know how to be an opposing fan correctly and be treated accordingly.
