Sure, you'll get Tigerbaited if you're wearing opposing gear, but it's all in good fun. Most tailgates will give you food and drinks, regardless of your fandom, at least in my experience.

As far as I know, no LSU fan has poisoned centuries old trees out of spite about a game so until then, we are far from the worst fan base.

All this whining and crying about how the opposing teams fan base was mean. Seriously? Whatever happened to the strong, silent type like Gary Cooper?

Those of us who have lived in other areas of the SEC are aware of the reason--south Louisiana is culturally distinct from the rest of the SEC. They are not sure what to think or do about us. I lived three years in Birmingham and remember the quietness and uncertainty when the issue of going to Baton Rouge to a game came up.
And it has always been so; there was an infantry brigade in General Lee's army in Virginia called the Louisiana Tigers. Always thought of as peculiar, they were from around Bayous Teche, Lafourche, and Sara and from the Irish Channel and the docks of New Orleans. A lot of both English and French was spoken. Same attitude as now by the rest of the Army. But when General Lee had to have it the Tigers were brought up. They ruptured the Yankee line themselves on the 2nd day at Gettysburg. In 1895 when football teams were being started this unit was remembered better than now and is the reason for our team name.

The worst fanbases aren't as bad as they're made out to be, and the best fanbases aren't as good as they're made out to be.

I’ll let you in on a little secret.
Every team in the country has good fans and bad fans.
If your aggie friend is upset about our bad ones, tell him to sack up.

I think LSU fans have more problems with other LSU fans, than visiting fans.

I like it. The less visiting fans in TS the better. If anything, we need to treat the visiting fans even worse.

I've only seen Louisiana courtesy, with a smiling Tiger Bait mixed in. I'm sure there's been some bad experiences by drunks, etc but I've never seen the hate some fans claim.

It's a thing with Aggies. I have heard some ridiculous stories that LSU fans supposedly did to them. All sounds like made up crap.

There are between 100-125,000+ people on campus on any given football Saturday.
There are bound to be a few dumbass idiots just due to the sheer number of people. Marketing demographics dictates this.
What I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE, is when someone says:
"LSU fans are...." or "I don't like LSU fans because...."
To what "LSU fans" are they referring???
AAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLL One million + LSU alumni and fans ????
Or a few hundred bad fans (if that) that are magically and mysteriously magnified as if EVERY LSU fan is bad.
You can't assume that a ONE MILLION + Alumni and fan base is all the same.

Let me ask the rant this one. Why do non-Tiger fans believe that LSU is not a fun place to visit because the fans are rude and hostile?
The entire SEC treats opposing fans the same way....all part of game day.

I can only speak for myself
I’m generally nice to visiting fans

Against 8&4 fans yes probably truest

Most of those people that say these things have never been to Tiger Stadium. I had a Arky friend tell me all kinds of horror stories about TS that he had heard. He came with us and had the time of his life. He went back to work and told the people that related those stories to him they were a bunch of lying assholes

quote:I could pretty much write this same thing but switch Florida with LSU . I live in Jacksonville, the heart of GA/FL/FSU country and the one thing everyone around here seems to agree on, except Gator fans, is that Gator fans are the worst. Georgia fans may start out talking trash about LSU (and FSU this year because we played them) but once Florida is brought up, everyone is suddenly in agreement. I suppose it depends on where you are and who you are talking to.
I grew up an LSU. I then went to a grad school where my classmates were comprised of people who attended a wide variety of SEC schools. One consensus opinion among those who attended other SEC schools was that LSU fans were assholes and one of, if not the worst, fanbases in the SEC. Georgia fans didn't like Florida fans. Alabama fans didn't like Auburn fans. Ole Miss fans didn't like Mississippi St. fans...but they ALL didn't like LSU fans.

I've never been to Tiger Stadium, but I have heard some horror stories about how opposing fans are treated there. If I'm being honest, there is definitely a reputation there.
We are going to the game this weekend, and my wife is nervous about wearing orange. Lol.
I'm personally looking forward to it.
