Are EoTech's still worth it?

Saw a special for an EXPS2-0 yesterday for $429.
Apparenlty that is a good deal, according to the internets. I know they have unbelievable real world indestructible reliability, but are these still that sought after?

Yes, Aimpoint Micro and EOTech are the gold standard for unmagnified optics. I love the wide sight picture on the EOTech, have a couple of EXPS.

Used an EOTech for years and love it. Very effective for quick shots.

For me they are. I have no idea how "sought after" they are but that's not a factor I consider.
I barely paid less than that with their discount program. That's a good price.

An EoTech subtly says "I actually know what I'm doing."

That is something only you can answer.
Is the money well spent to have a nearly indestructible optic that can work even when it actually is damaged? Is it worth it to you to have an optic that you'll be really glad to have if the "SHTF" scenarios are something you ponder?
Many scopes hit 0, and many scopes are high quality and will be fantastic for regular joe purposes of going to the range or having fun or even training.
EoTechs and Aimpoints are operator quality. If that's what you want, then do it. If you don't mind NOT having the absolute top of the line holographic optic, then you have a lot of amazing options as well.

Unless you're NY Swat and you get your picture all over the interwebs with the damn thing on backwards.

I'm full aimpoint now, will never go back to heavy, bulky EOTech

Eotech with magnifier is the best combo in my opinion. Unmagnified, the eotech or similar holographic sight has unlimited eye relief and unbeatable target acquisition time. They make fixed magnifiers up to 6x as well.

i took advantage of their recall years ago and bought a sig romeo. everything is basically the same for half the price, but i really miss the wide field of view of the EOtech. thats where theyre better than the rest

I always thought the Trijicon MRO pattern was pretty much the best of both worlds because it's lightweight, has a huge field of view, and it still comes in a red dot footprint. but everyone seems to hate them who have actually used them.

Not me, but to get the Eotech knock-off reticle on an MRO you jump to another price range. If I just wanted a single dot I'd take a green MRO over an Aimpoint Micro.

EoTech are fine if you don't have an astigmatism. Luckily today there are great prism optics out there, before I was mostly a trijicon guy. I can see them with a magnifier but without it is a blurry mess. I was still able to sell TONS of them. Battery life kind of sucks so if you care about that look into other options. The mid budget optics have improved a ton but the premium 1X optics are usually budget friendly anyway.
EoTech, Aimpoint, Trijicon you can't go wrong, just pick what you like. I am a fan of Swampfox but I haven't had anything longer than a couple of years, but what I do have has been rock solid with no issues. They have great battery life and a great warranty. An added bonus to a prism is the etched reticule works when the batteries don't. Also, some people knock the field of view on prisms but I put one as far forward as it would go on a rail and then as far backward as comfortable and I could see well with both eyes, I think the limitation is more technical than actually will harm you in the field.

Not sure what you're laughing at. Operators are going to use the highest quality optics. EoTechs and Aimpoints are up there, same as trijicon.
The point was that you don't have to have something that expensive and nice unless you're really just making a build for as reliable and spare no expense type.

I do and they’re still fine. My understanding is that an astigmatism affects everybody differently, which is why it’s a good idea to look through one before you buy. An Aimpoint might look worse than an MRO or it could be the other way around depending on whose eyeball is doing the looking.

I went with Aimpoint simply for the battery life compared to EoTech. EoTech would be my second choice though
Posted on 9/30/22 at 6:42 pm to Jack Ruby
Depends on your use. red dots are still the king for setting and forgetting due to battery life.

Where is this deal? I’ve been looking for one.

It's heavier but I've enjoyed my Vortex Strike eagle. The ability to go from 1-8x is easy and long distance shooting a beeeze.
Now you'll have someone come along eventually and say they qualified with irons to 300, and that's great. But why make life harder? It's a long gun, put a scope.
