Good Lord. I know we all are feeling the sting of inflation, but I was looking at our Amazon account this morning. My wife ordered dog food earlier this week and it was $71.23 for the 24-lb of Blue Buffalo Wilderness High Protein dog food. Been using this same dog food for years, so I dug through the Amazon account quickly to see past orders.
FYI. Amazon has the 24-lb of Blue Buffalo Wilderness High Protein on sell for $38.

Like a good nerd, I put the data into a spreadsheet and graphed it.
Roughly 50% increase since December 2019. Before taxes, low point was $43.19 per bag in May 2020 and the high point was the most recent purchase this week at $64.78.
Okay... I read through the thread hoping that somebody might actually find the truth to this thread but it appears like that didn't happen.
Check with your local retailer about the price of your Blue Buffalo and see if it has fluctuated that much or at all. Your problem is an Amazon specific phenomenon. I having been feeding my Rottweiler Diamond Naturals for over 8 years. When I started I had to go to feed stores or specific shops that carried it. I began ordering it off of Amazon about 4 years ago when my dog's specific mix and flavor (Large Breed Lamb and Rice) started to sell out or become back ordered at the feed store.
Just about 2 to three years ago the price shot up from 45 per month to 77 per month. For no reason apparently. I went and got some from the feed store because they had it in stock again for the normal price of 45 dollars. 3 months later it went back to the normal price on Amazon where it mostly stayed for the next year or so. It has shot up for a few days or weeks every so often since then=and returns to normal. It depends upon Amazons supplier at the time. It has gone back and forth a few times in the last year. It is now back on Amazon for 44 dollars. Price will fluctuate for dog food but the retail price has remained the same. At least that is the truth about Diamond Naturals and Amazon. I like to support local independent retailers if I can but sometimes they run out when I need it. I go through a 40 lb every 3 weeks so I can't be picky when he's gotta eat!

Wrong. I posted Purina as well and it’s nearly doubled from 2020

Nothing about what I posted was wrong. I mentioned Amazon and Diamond Naturals. The correct way to see what is right is if the OP can tell me if the retail prices of his Blue Buffalo has fluctuated to correlate with Amazon and your hypothesis.
I don't give a shite about Purina.

Dogfood cost graph and data updated in original post as of most recent purchase made yesterday. Yay, inflation!

Wait till you see beef prices next year. Its not just dog food...its feed in general. Droughts and fertilizer prices are destroying grain production.

Previous generations talking about not being able to afford a 4th kid, mine is honestly talking about not being able to afford and feed a dog.
This is equal parts sad and hilarious.

I take wild meat and mix it with the dog food for my bulldog. It makes the dog food last longer. Catfish, squirrel, wild hog and deer meat are her favorites. Whenever I fish, which is quite often, I'll always catch 2 smaller channel cats and fillet them with the skin left on. Put it in a skillet with a little butter then mix it with dog good and shell eat every bit.

45 lb Wholehearted(Petco Brand) chicken and rice went from $50 to $60 in the last year. Even Milkbones have gone up.
