Somebody needs to tell that guy what synthetic fabrics are made from before he gets too much of a surprise.

That guy knows exactly what's going on with the earth, AND his product!
He's simply been shown by a high-dollar tax attorney how to make a "non profit" much more lucrative and safer than an old "traditional" business.

Now he can show total dedication to Gaia by throwing himself into a volcano.

I assume they're only going to be selling wool and cotton items instead of using any petroleum products for fabric or waterproofing.

Good for him, I hope it goes straight into the toilet, but at least he is showing how virtuous he is.

Same here. It's for sure in my top 5. I bet if everyone that is so quick to judge in this thread were to watch it, at least half of them would come away impressed by him. He's the real deal and the documentary is so good.

I'm pretty sure he is the CEO of this new 501 (c)(3), which will avoid the payment of taxes. Climate crisis is the new church of the left.

Lol these people. This guy has shipped probably millions of products with plastic in them around the world, made a shite ton of money and now wants to act righteous.

Patagonia is the reason we have fleece (ETA: Well, literally Polartec, but Patagonia popularized it for cold weather apparel). Fleece, which environmentalists regard as a "disaster" because of how much plastic it consumes and how much of the material ends up in the oceans, fish and ultimately people.

Wonder how much they are paid to “manage” this trust.

Y’all are going to think this is crazy but I honestly think I’m our lifetimes we will see people commit suicide to “save the planet”. That’s how stupid this will get.

This is essentially a company committing suicide.

I’m not going to try to talk them out of it

If they wanted to “do their part” they’d shut down the business completely, give away all their money and live like a hobbit in the woods… let’s see how much they really care, I’ll wait.

Somebody needs to invent a machine that takes temperatures and precipitation around the world and put them back to where they were in 1850. That's a good benchmark right?

It may very well be a very good documentary. It was obviously good enough to give you such a man-crush that you refuse to address a single point that people have made demonstrating the guy's hypocrisy.

I don't think he's the devil or anything. He might be a very interesting person to hang out with over a dinner and drinks. But we can objectively look at his actions, where and how he made his money, and come to a logical conclusion that he ain't THAT concerned about the environment. Not nearly as concerned as he is about his public image and wealth, anyway.

Sounds like a tax dodge

This. Tax dodge plus boosts ESG score. Owners of Patagonia just take a salary from the non profit or use it for “expenses.” And they virtue signal on top of it.

These non profits are typically gigantic scams where 90% of the revenue doesn’t even go to the cause it represents
