LINK
Cliffnotes:
- excited about first home game in Tiger Stadium
- complimentary of Southern dominating their opponent last weekend
- short week to prepare
- Coaches need to coach better, and players need to execute better, and trust the process. Mentioned 3rd down defense and offense needing to have better recognition pre-snap.
- team had grit and character, and battled their tails' off
- Maason Smith confirmed to be out for season with ACL tear...backups need to step up.
- offense didn't do well adjusting protection for FSU's defensive alignment
- regarding Boutte body language: he is hard on himself and he was disappointed in play. Not used to adversity and needs to grow from it. Kelly doesn't seem worried about Boutte...
- Wingo played well replacing Maason Smith...he is a leader, and is effective.
- Will Campbell held his own...we could have helped O-line better with different play calls
- Kelly disappointed in Ali Gaye's targeting..,says it was on him...Gaye will have to sit first half of Southern game.
- 16 missed tackles on FSU QB
- made in-game changes on PAT attempt, but poor execution led to block
- it was his decision to stick with Nabers at punt return...had confidence that he would bounce back after first muff...but didn't.
- Daniels settled in well as game progressed...never talked about switching to Nuss in the game. Daniels is still No. 1 QB
- Safeties didn't communicate well...cornerbacks were consistent.
- realizes running game needs work but happy about short yardage success
- RB's and TE's need to block better
- Not much to say about Foucha except that he will be back this year...very vague
- Linebacker performance: need to tackle and blitz better...room for major improvement there
- O-line awareness root of pass protection issues...knowing where your help is, etc
That's it...

Maybe he will just stare blankly at the camera like he did on the sidelines Sunday. Looked lost as a fkn goose out there.

Odds on him roasting Moscona?

Says "exciting" to bring in Southern. One of the best bands in the nation. Great for the University and Baton Rouge.
Ours guys are excited to get an opportunity to bounce back after a disappointing loss.
Biggest issue we can correct: eye discipline, tackling, better communication, earlier recognition of what is available. We have to do a better job of coaching players, and better execution. They have to trust that and play with a great deal of confidence.
Chicken doing better cliffs than I can.

Maybe he can tell players to keep their celebrations grounded

Avoid coming out of the tunnel flat. Like Bonneville flat.
Had the team played 4 qtrs like the 4th qtr, that game would have been very different.
Get em lit early and let em fly coach.

What did the media member say when he said they were late? I couldn’t hear her at the mic but I feel like she blamed it on the loss? He retorted with “it has nothing to do with the loss but all about being on time”

He sounds like a coach that knows he lacks talent/experience at critical positions.
Especially in his response to running back, tight end, and O-line.
This guy needs time to get the players he needs into this program and build it the way he has done before.
I'll give him a pass this year if he goes 6-6.

How is LSU sports media so awful? These guys ask the worst questions imaginable
Posted on 9/6/22 at 12:29 pm to Chicken
who in the world asked that question about limited practice since 2014 being a reason for not tackling and Gaye’s targeting call??

Looks like another Les Mile. Stubborn. 4-7 is ceiling with JD at QB

We all need to giver Brian Kelly a break and see how he moves on from this loss. Let’s see how Daniel’s plays against southern before making a quarterback change. The offensive line in no way helped JD against FSU.

Based on the post, handled it like he should. Took responsibility for some of the tough things (Nabors).

Professional press conference vs O reading us the stat sheet and throwing his least favorite coordinator under the bus when he himself couldn’t do a coordinator job. Kelly is a marked improvement, and it’s clear he has a plan in place for improvement and identified our problem areas. Let’s see how he adjusts

This team will finish with 8 wins

Glad we have a short week this week. Ready to move on and get that loss behind us. Hope we can improve week to week and continue to grow as a team.
