Those industries produce a lot of revenue for their respective companies but the amount of good paying long term jobs is limited. And the people that work those jobs don't live in those zip codes. You can make good money working at a plant. And if you do you're not going to want to live next to it. You commute from other zip codes.

Wait, am I hearing this wrong or is she saying the problem is that companies aren't taxed enough?
She's part of the reason Louisiana is a shithole; Economic illiteracy is rampant.
Should have known she was an economic illiterate the moment I saw a younger woman trying to explain economics.

With all Louisiana's wealth in natural resources and industry, WHY DO WE STAY SO POOR?

Well she’s a leftist and they have little to no ability to comprehend simple economics. If she could, she wouldn’t be a leftist. In the simplistic mind of leftists people are poor only because the “rich” and big corporations hoard all the money. They believe if the government taxes these entities heavily the money collected will all be given to the poor, thus making them no longer poor. The fact this has been tried unsuccessfully for decades never occurs to them.

We elect frickin' retards who raise sales taxes, do nothing about soaring home and auto insurance, and nobody wants to stay in that environment

A high percentage of very ignorant and government dependent people that are too stupid to know they are exceptionally ignorant.

If you raise taxes in Louisiana it only benefits the politicians and bureaucrats. The system of government there is and always will be corrupt.

Horrendous leadership at all levels of government in this state.

Yup. At least companies are producing some good or service.
Leftists always want to talk about corporate greed, but they never acknowledge a bigger, more pressing issue: government greed, mismanagement, and corruption.

Louisiana’s issue is not low or high taxes, it’s tax structure and tax incentives. We have one company with an effective tax rate of -26.1%. There is a reason lobbying is so lucrative.

Louisiana isn’t poor. That’s the biggest lie.
There’s a large margin between wealthy and low income with what seems to be a very small middle class. In LA you can live good if you’re from money, well connected or make a lot.
If you’re not one of these 3, your life in LA isn’t that great. That’s my viewpoint. And yes this is more unique to Louisiana. Don’t say it’s like that everywhere because it’s not.
Middle class live pretty decent to good in states such as Texas, Florida, The Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma.

You can look at the attitudes of it's people. Set in tradition, unwilling to learn and change, the ones who excell , leave. Look how quick they clique together on the down votes here. "
Gotta do what the gang does "
Garbage on side the highways. Prisoners pick it up. Week later it's back. People comfortable living with garbage. The ones who throw it out, i often wonder what their internal house looks like. Likely walking around daily with that " racing stripe "

quote:Middle class white women are some of the most economic illiterate people, I swear. I've met quite a few that didn't know what the federal reserve was or thought there was tens of millions of six figure earning men. Probably explains why so many are voting Democrat now, democrats love to prey on low information voters with emotional appeal.

Louisiana is just a pathetic and God Awful place to live. All the natural parks are shite. The weather is shite. The crime and overpopulation make it unbearable to live there. I pray everyday that the people I care about move out of that shithole of a state

Agreed. Adding to this, the human factor... freely giving folks money they did not earn creates laziness and an attitude of entitlement. Welfare(in any form) robs an individuals will to strive. Most leftist can't understand this concept, while leftist politicians do understand. The leftist politician pushes welfare type policies which ensures voters. Once folks are trapped and dependent, they will vote to keep the handouts coming. Democrats don't truly care about people, only the votes. If truly concerned, they would support policies that encouraged folks to stand on their own two feet, provide for themselves and contribute to society.
