Looking for a pilonidal cyst specialist in South Louisiana.

With as common as I’m learning this is, I’m certain some of you have had issues with pilonidal cysts. I just experienced my first, and don’t plan to let this linger. What drs/surgeons did you see?

Sorry to hear you're growing a tail.

Any surgeon should be able to manage that.
It’s a pretty straightforward procedure.
There isn’t really a specialist for it.
General surgeons perform those procedures.

I had one a few years ago. Extremely painful and gross. Guess I got by sitting too much at work. Got it drained and took antibiotics for it. Took a long time for it to heal and even though it's still technically there, so long as I make sure it doesn't get infected again, I'm keeping it.
The surgery for the removal looks awful and extremely inconvenient.

I had one removed about 5 years ago. It will be more painful than you’re led to believe. I didn’t shite for four days. My family finally roofied me with laxatives. I also was semi-addicted to opiates for 2-3 months afterwards. Good luck.

Gen surg, no specialist for it as others have said

My son had it done by a general surgeon in B’ham but he does do a lot of them. He also prescribe a round of laser butt hair removal afterward to keep it from reoccurring. So far so good.

Every time the OT scares me shitless with some ailment I'll probably never experience, something new and worse comes along. Frick.

Had it when I was 19 and home for summer from college
They basically have to dig it out and it looks like a cylinder that is a wide open hole to your arse bone
My mom had to pour hydrogen peroxide in the hole every day to clean it out. The first time she did it she threw up

I’d never heard of this shite before Monday. But seems like it’s fairly common

Pilonidal cysts are the natural enemy of the fat OTer

Mine was left open so had to wear more pads than a hockey player for a few days. Was one of the worst recoveries but worth it for the pain it caused and having it rupture sending me to hospital in Deridder??

Whatever you do, don’t Google pics of this condition

45% of the threads on the OT from 2008-2011 were about pilonidal cysts.
