From a dietary standpoint, what are the goals you and Zion have?
Definitely getting him in tiptop shape. My boy says he wants the league MVP this year. I see it. I believe it. I believe Zion is going to be the face of the NBA once LeBron James retires. I believe it. I see it. Just getting him in great health. He’s in great health now. But once the season starts, he’s going to be in even better health.
quote:
How do you accomplish that?
Watching everything we put into his body. Pull all sugars. Pull all carbs. Just give him all the healthy stuff. The healthy nutrition he needs — from baked foods to different grains. We are going to be working on a paleo diet. That’s a lot of grains. That’s a lot of meat. No carbs. A lot of fruit.
quote:
How many meals do you prepare on an average week for Zion?
Six days. Eighteen meals a week. That’s three meals a day. It’s not heavy meals, though. I want people to understand that.
hallelujah

I don’t want to complain, but the man clearly doesn’t know what a carbohydrate is

Mvp zion means he's putting up 30/8/6, shooting 58/35/77, and a top 3 seed.

PELS STACKED - LEAGUE FRICKED!!!

Based on that interview Zion has one day a week where his meals aren’t totally planned and prepared…. A lot of damage can be done in a single day

Day 7 Zion goes pizza pizza.

I would be very happy with my $20 bet at +5000 if that happened.

That should be the 2022-23 Pels Motto

I looked up what the paleo diet is and I'm assuming when he said no carbs he was talking about things like potatoes, bread, rice, etc.

Uh I think his chef needs to go re-read the nutrition pyramid.

I'm sorry, I read
and I stopped.
IDGAF what this writer is trying to set up but I promise you I don't care about Dorothy Green's garden

This diet and planned meal stuff is great, but the number 1 thing that has hurt Zion in terms of his weight, has actually been the injuries and the depression of being injured, leading to just eating whatever the F he wants, to cope while his knee is torn or his foot is broken.
When he is healthy, it almost doesn’t matter what he eats as long as he plays enough basketball. He typically gets in pretty damn good shape if he can stay healthy for at least 5-6 straight months.
The issue is, sometimes what you eat can result in higher frequency or risk of injury. So an argument could be made, that eating healthier, could in fact keep him healthier injury wise.
These are all very positive changes though. The guy’s diet doesn’t have to be perfect. It just has to be better and it sounds like it is a lot better in general, even if he is getting a cheat day or sneaking a soda here and there.
He still is 22 years old. I’m pretty damn sure all of his similarly aged teammates are encouraged to eat whatever they want and however much they want. It probably kind of sucks he has to live under a different set of rules than his peers, due to his body type and perhaps having a slightly slower metabolism. That and the pressure of trying to live up to the hype of potentially being the next Lebron.
None of his peers, such as, Jaxson, Nickeil, Kira, Herb, Trey, or even Ingram have really had those expectations diet or career wise.

Fruit is literally sugar which is carbs.
Sounds like this chef is a fricking moron

The scary part is, Zion is still SO young. He's 22. If he buys into this Paleo thing, and continues lifting weights and gaining stamina, his body type means he might end up being the strongest, most freakishly athletic player the NBA has ever seen. Shaq or Wilt notwithstanding.
