Stop being an a-hole and give them as much time as they need to hire your replacement

If they treat you like shite they don’t deserve a two weeks notice.
Sounds like they are nice to you, so I would feel obligated to.

So much this. I'd seriously have to consider not taking the offer, no matter what it is. Or take it and keep looking and accept the next offer that comes along and tell them "so sorry, I can't give you any notice because my new job is demanding I start today"

We all have to make new friends at some point. Most companies don't want someone on staff for 2 weeks sucking company tit for 2 weeks doing nothing. Then u roll early

I’m a business owner and in my experience, I’d rather you just provide your manager with all of the information needed to continue whatever you were working on and leave. No need to drag it out two weeks. When you come back after you realize the grass isn’t always greener, I’m going to make you beg though

If anything I’d be way more concerned about the new company not letting you wrap up loose ends. I’m not a stellar employee, but I’d never leave a good employer with problems.
That tells me they don’t care about you or employees very much.

I think it depends on the job.
There is no way I wouldn’t give two weeks notice because I’ve been there over five years and am responsible for the upkeep of a lot of files and they would absolutely need me to train someone about how those files operate.
Now I’ve seen them tell sales people to gtfo.
I’d imagine there are very few jobs where two weeks is absolutely necessary.
We had some douche who worked for us for a few months give his notice and he just happened to have a death in the family at that time. Obvious bullshite to try and extend his paycheck two weeks without actually working.

It’s not that urgent. Give ‘em a two weeks notice.

Walk out.
No notice needed.
No notice needed.

Any company that doesn’t allow a two week notice should be considered a giant red flag.

What would your current company do if they needed to immediately fire you? Company loyalty is a boomer trait.

Never work somewhere that won’t allow you to work out a 2 week notice.

Was recently in that situation, gave the week. Told them to call me if there were any questions about anything afterward. They have, and I was glad to help. They offered me a job in case things don't work out. We're still on great terms.
Found out afterward that the new company was trying to get me on sooner so that I'd start on their insurance quicker. Another week would have pushed it from 30 days to almost two months. They even told me to come pick up my laptop and just work from home on my new hire paperwork for the first few days. It's been totally worth it.
It happened one other time, on an offer from a very large blue oilfield service company. I have no idea why they rushed me, I suspect it was because they just used to it. This job was also worth it, I stayed around 7 years.

Personally I wouldn't join that company just based off of the fact they want you so quickly. That means they can get rid of you that quickly too.

As many have said I would just tell the truth to current employer and move forward with the one week notice.
That’s assuming the new opportunity is what you want and it’s a good move.
I wouldn’t consider giving one weeks notice, versus two, burning down a bridge.
The reality is the company you work for now (or any company, for that matter) isn’t going to give you a week or two notice if they lay you off.

I always look at it like……. would your employer give you a 2 week notice before firing you or laying you off? If not, then you don’t owe them shite.
