Will Dylan Crews go down as the GOAT?

GOAT LSU baseball player that is. So this is kind of throwing a big hypothetical out, because he still has about a year and a 1/3 left, but if Crews continues to stay pace rest of year, and comes out next year raking/Golden Spikes campaign, does he go down as the Greatest LSU baseball player ever?
I’m young, finishing my 3rd year at LSU, so forgive me I didn’t get to see the greatness live of Ben McDonald, Todd Walker, Eddie Furniss etc. at LSU. I have of course gotten to see Nola, Bregman, etc. who I would probably throw into that category.
Can Crews be the best ever if he hits 60 homers, .350 career average, contends for a big award next year, and #1 pick? What say y’all? I wish I was alive during the 90’s for Skip. I have a Todd Walker signed baseball in my room.

Maybe if he hits a walk-off to win the CWS.

I think he would have to lead LSU to a national championship for the fans to see him as the GOAT. He’s definitely up there but when you are on that level the NC’s are the tiebreaker.

I would say he needs a CWS ring but Ben and Nola don’t have one… he definitely needs to go Omaha.
If he leads us to a natty next year and is the first pick, I’d say he would be the GOAT

No way he will even be in that conversation without a natty

LSU baseball history is absolutely loaded with superstars. I think to be mentioned in a top 10-15 player range is monumental when you have the program history of the Tigers.

I do think he will go down as one of the better MLB players to come out of LSU. His game is built for the modern MLB.

He might end up top 5, but that's a helluva hill to climb with Walker, Furniss, Cresse, Bergman, Nola, etc.

He’s already the greatest 0-2 hitter in college baseball history.

It will be hard for anyone to pass Todd Walker,he is probably not just the greatest LSU baseball player of all time but probably the best SEC baseball player but for sure top 3 in the SEC. When you hit 52 bombs, steal 51 bases, and bat .396 for a 3 year average while winning a college World Series and named the CWS Most Outstanding Player that is hard to top.Crews will prolly be in the Top 10 easily though if he continues his trajectory and is also a top 5 draft pick

He’s a great, but not even close to Walker. And he’s not top 7-8 without winning a championship.

I was born in the 80’s so I witnessed the greats. Top 3 in any order is Furniss, McDonald, Walker.
People hate change, me included. We hate admitting anyone could be better than the guys we grew up on, but it happens.
Trying to look at it with an open mind, Crews is playing against different pitching, with weaker bats. I guess if he continues to tear it up next year, he would have to be in the conversation. I have no problem with that. Dude is special for sure.
ETA: I agree with a statement that it would be hard to pass Walker.

Furniss had a .371 batting average in his four years at LSU, and set SEC career records for hits (352), doubles (87), home runs (80), runs batted in (309), and total bases (689).

Not likely. As stated, he'll need to lead us to a natty, then we'll see. At this point he hasn't even passed players like D.J. Lemahieu, not to mention all of the greats that have already been mentioned. Todd Walker and Eddie Furniss are up there for me.
I mentioned D.J. because he was outstanding here and has continued it in MLB, but he only really played 2 years here, which makes it hard to put him over some of those other players. But for those two years, he was outstanding in the middle infield, clutch at the plate, and on another level in post-season play. LSU does not win game 1 of the championship series in 2009 without him and it would have been 2 and a Q with Taylor Jungmann pitching game 2 for Texas.
Crews has the tools, but the fact that he is an outfielder, to me, will make it hard for him to be in the convo for GOAT because we have so many former players who were also sensational at the plate and played a larger role on defense.

He plays center field. That’s a pretty important position.

Berry is a better hitter. If Berry played for four years at LSU he might be the GOAT.

Agreed. Crews will be considered at Bregman level which is pretty damn high

More games like last night and win a CWS and yea probably so. He's a very good player but at LSU the standard is to win it all

Remember Alex Bregman???

Sure did. Eddy is one of tGOATS.
If Crews would play 4 years that would be sick.
