Baton Rouge - I am so BRcentric that it never crosses my mind that other cities my have a downtown or mall or a city park.

I had lunch at Opie's - so good. I am definitely going back.

ETA: Thank you for all the suggestions.

Up until about 10 years ago, nobody would have had ANY clue what you were talking about, if you had attempted to refer to "Mid City" of Baton Rouge.

Where is Mid City BR? I have never heard that term outside of New Orleans.

It was coined in a contest by Hibernia Bank about what to call their new branch on Carrolton and Canal like 80+ years ago.

Think Government St., about in the vicinity of Fleur De Lis.

I wasnt aware the BR had a Garden District until earlier this year. As long as they are copying our names, they should grab Hollygrove and Gertown while they are hot.

you're pretty territorial about all this considering lots of other cities have areas called the garden district and mid city...

You are so right. The next thing you know we'll have a Martin Luther King Boulevard running through the worst part of town too.
