That may or may not be true, but FL lost at home to Ole Miss, which along with your loss this weekend is what the voters look at. But if you win out and win the SECCG, you will likely get another shot at the title. But chances are slim IMO.

Take off the P&G glasses, and consider LSU in the title game..remember that Nebraska team that was demolished by Miami, after being demolished by Colorado?

Teams that lose by 30 or more, don't get to national title games, and the rare exceptions where they have..look at the track record.

Too many easy paths to get to the BCSCG for others(Tex, PSU, USC) and obviously better teams too(Florida) block LSU's path.

No way. Only Oklahoma can lose a game by 4 touchdowns or more and end up in a National Championship game.

yeah, LSU needs to focus on winning the next game, and playing 100% the WHOLE game. Loss this weekend and we may not win any of our remaining conference games. Let's see how we do saturday before talking NCG possibilities. A trip to Atlanta for the "Chick Fil A" is more probably than the SECCG. Let's take baby steps here.

The point is we aren't going to the NC. But if we did win out, not only would we be going, we would probably be the favorite, given the team we play along the way.

Without debating if LSU could win the rest of their games and just taking the question at IF they won the rest, I think they'd be in the title game unless Penn State and the Big XII winner were undefeated.

In order to win out, we'd be the SEC team with the best record and most accolades. I think that would take USC out of the picture. Texas could also be in the mix with one loss and a conference title.

If the BCS were released today:

LINK

lsumatt and the math patrol can sort out how legit
this is, but FWIW LSU is 17th in "what this site says the BCS standings would look like now".

I don't think so. Voters watch the games. LSU's lack of effort and obvious schematic problems displayed on the national screen aren't going to disappear. Unless other one loss teams were blown out as well, and looked as poorly doing it. Even Ohio State made changes, got an injured RB back. We would not jump them, with one loss.

Baby Steps.

I think that any team that loses a game by 30 points shouldn't even be allowed to watch the MNC game, let alone attend it.

Speculation about a team with this kind of loss participating in such a game is, of course, pure insanity.

I'd rather focus on what's attainable, something that should be crystal clear to all of us the morning of November 9 at the latest.

Ok Ok here it is. If we win out, we still have way too many people on our back from last year and getting into the gm with 2 losses. Yes we play some pretty good top 10 opponents coming up, however, if TX, PSU, USC or OU win out we will not go.

An unblemished record or a 1 loss record on any of these teams, we get bumped, simply because of how bad we looked against not only florida, but "Undominant" against everyone else we have played. Fellas. an SEC Title repeat last time i checked was not fricking chopped liver.

Would this would be a good time to bring out some quotes from last November?

"There is NO possible way that LSU plays for the MNC this year…Not gonna' happen. It's over…Please don't be a moron and get your hopes up. Santa isn't coming to LSU this Christmas pal.” – JimBlast

i think we need to see improvement in the defense and qb position before we even talk about national title games. if shite stays the same, or gets worse, which it has game by game, we arent going anywhere.

We'd have to win all the games and a bunch of other teams would have to lose some games. Ain't gonna happen this year. I hope for a decent bowl and will look forward to next year when our QB has some experience.

well if you beat georgia and bama, and then have a redemption game against florida to win the sec. it wouldnt matter if we lost to em by 75 in the first game,if we run the table and redeem a loss in the seccg we would be in the NCG.

not saying that going to happen but it is still possible.
