Because they don't do shite in the scenario you're describing

LOL, hope you misspelled Respirator and Goggles. May as well buy a shovel now. RIP John Ham.

If you choose to wear a mask, that’s on you. Just don’t force anyone else to

I’m sure your wife’s boyfriend will appreciate you not bringing home a cough.

In order for there to be some benefit, the coughers and sneezers would need to be wearing the masks too..unless you got a N95 mask.

They do very little for the wearer unless it's an N95 mask.

But if you think they don't do shite, why would you not have answered that originally when you said:

You do know the pollen count in Louisiana right now is extremely high, right?

1) weird that you are trying to convince yourself that wearing a mask works (unless the c95) on an internet forum.
2) As the same logic applies to C19, wearing a cloth mask to prevent illness is like using a chainlink fence as a shield against a shotgun plast.
3) If you want to wear a mask, wear it. You're an adult. Just don't demand others wear one for "your protection".

Maybe if I was going into a hospital wing with some seriously sick patients. Doubt/hopefully I never have to do that.

All other places I’m not unless they force me to and there isn’t any other option.

Is it a fitted N95? Otherwise, you aren't lowering your chances. Go for it, though.

The likelihood is that whatever mask you are using isn't doing a fricking thing, btw.
