I agree he inherited a crap show but not having Milliazo behind the plate has been a big issue. Also his philosophy is get some one on base and knock him in. We are last in the Sec or close to it on steal attempts. You have to put pressure on the defense. Errors and lack of SEC starting pitching are our two biggest issues.

I love that this OP, about Johnson lacking discipline, is just above the story about a shirtless 60 yr. Old Ed Orgeron in a barroom fuss with some kids…

Less than 20 games into his first season. You sound incredibly sane. Go take a walk and breathe a little. It's just baseball.

I think He’s always been willing to sacrifice fielding for offense.

Paul was often the other way around, but there are some personnel
Issues here.

We have a 1st baseman, a CF and RF and 1 good defensive C and then you have question marks at 3rd, 2nd LF, SS and backup C.

And idk if there are guys sitting there on the bench who could significantly elevate the position in the field. Bianco and Pearson aren’t it.

Merrifield has like 4 errors at 3rd. Cranfield has 2 errors in what 10 innings as a backup?

I said it yesterday morning and I’ll say it again this morning. It takes years to form bad habits, why do so many think those habits will be broken in a few months? It’s gonna take time.

It was time for CPM to step down but last season the LSU Tiger baseball team finished in the top 16 and was 2 wins away from a CWS appearance, that is not a team that sucks.

LSU benefitted from being placed in a weak Regional. Then LSU was swept by Tennessee in the Super Regional. LSU won a total of 3 SEC Series and lost 7 SEC Series. LSU had a losing record in the SEC and won a bunch of weekday games to pad their record. They were not good.

You had one and he was a hall of fame coach that won LSU a national championship but the rant hated him and wanted him fired.

Jesus H this is insane. The guy takes over the job and immediately retains the No.1 recruiting class and we're looking to part ways after a weekend of SEC baseball? My two cents on the errors is that if you get recruited to play baseball at LSU then you have to be capable of making ROUTINE plays. Jay Johnson can't go out there and play for them. Players need to be held accountable, too.

yikes

Seems like errors are something we need to get used to. If someone looks are those rankings and think it’s all just one big coincidence, they are in complete denial

This is something I have been saying. LSU fans are going to have to understand that Johnson is going to sacrifice defense for offense and in recruiting he may sacrifice pitchers for hitters. Is that the right thing to do? Only time will tell us.

True, but there's most definitely a correlated between a disciplined mindset and good play
