Call me crazy, but I kind of want to see how we would fare in a modern day war.

US vs Russia who you got?

No you don't. Our politicians haven't had the stomach to actually win since at least the beginning of the century.

I have a feeling you wouldn’t feel that way anymore if it actually happen.

So, three things.
1. We’re behind in the technology race thanks to Obama and his 8 years of budget cuts to the military. We missed out on the hypersonic missile tech, among other things.
2. Our military leaders, like our politicians, are woke and more focused on diversity, inclusiveness, and equity, than in people who want to fight for our country.
3. We haven’t done what it takes to win a war since WWII. Something changed in us when we dropped those bombs in Japan. Since then, we’ve gone at half speed, and our adversary has been not. We have invented all these rules of engagement to hold ourselves back, and probably gotten good people killed because of it.
Long short short- we’re technology challenged, softer than we should be, and we hamstring ourselves. Russia would dominate us.
And I hate to say that, but it’s true.

Hell yea, lets send tens of thousands of young men and women to die, plus countless civilians.

Son, this isn’t a game or a remake of Halo. Suggest you take a step back and more importantly have a talk with with Jesus.

Wtf?? Two nuclear powers in a war, and our President* doesn’t even know what planet he’s on, and theirs is out to prove something… What could go wrong?
What an asinine thing to wish for.

All of these comments have me feeling like people believe what our military wants them to believe. I’m 100% on board with making the woke jokes, etc about the military. But, today while being curious, I learned that last year we spent more on our military than the next TEN spenders COMBINED.
American universities are where most of the Russian and Chinese tech/engineering people get educated. How can people not be confident that our US military is always light years ahead of everyone else is beside me.
Our media is the garbage problem of this country. We’re better off not showcasing our technology, but there is def fear mongering created by showing the “hypersonic missle tests!!!” blah blah blah.
I believe they have something capable that aligns with these beliefs. I also want to believe we’re ready!!

For the millionth time, Russia spends 7% of what we do on their military. Even allowing for the fact that our politicians steal half, we would be spending 7 times the amount Russia does. We would beat Russia almost as badly as we beat Sadaam.

Will you be in uniform and in the middle of it? Easy to tell someone else to go get shot at.

What was the war we just got out of?

Our troops are still as dominant as ever. Just waiting on Brando now.

Level of stupid on this board seems to be growing exponentially

There are some simulations on YouTube using DCS which gives you an idea of the carnage that would ensue if we went toe to toe in various scenarios. I would be more wary of the Chinese due to sheer numbers fighting over a very small area (I.e.Taiwan).

As someone who proudly served in the Marines for 8 years and was willing to fight/defend/die for my country, I’d never wish any of that on anyone “to see how we would fare”.

- First of all, you must be young and stupid for thinking about this and actually posting it.
- Second of all, if it would happen, you are not ready if it's on American soil.
- Thirdly, the US military would still crush any country!!! The military is bigger and deeper than Biden's leadership!

Just drone strikes, drone strikes, drone strikes, drone strikes. Our military is woke. Most fighting will be done with drones.

You are both naive and just plain stupid
A hot war with Russia would not just be in the land in Europe. It would be in the air and sea. You think getting supplies from China/Asia are slow now….
And cyber attacks on targets in the US as well. Power grid attacks. Banking attacks. Air traffic control attacks.
Trump showed Putin what our military can do in open field in Syria when we kill 200 Russian mercs and obliterated they convoy
