I'm going to make a bold prediction: this recruiting class will get Jimbo fired when the investors don't get the return they are expecting on their investment.
the ROI for the people who forked up the money, above & below the table, IS the class.

Granted, Jimbo may get fired for not producing anyway.

But that would happen no matter where his classes were ranked.

The investment for these guys is the class, not the wins. The wins were already expected.

This may turn out to be a more difficult system to perpetuate than we currently think. The spirit and letter of the laws concerns the payment to athletes for the use of their name, image, and likeness for ongoing commercial purposes. It was not intended to facilitate university recruiting programs. At some point, someone will challenge the application of this ruling and its intent. I wouldn't be surprised if that someone is the NCAA once they wake up from behind the wheel.

The USSC ruled the NCAA cannot limit the players from profiting from their NIL.

Have fun restricting it.

The court didn't rule the NCAA couldn't put a cap on it.

I wonder if the Jimbo melt was partially because of problems already in the locker room!!

I’d like to know what NIL deals aggie second and third year players are getting:.. and I do nor believe this aggie team will have the leadership at the player or coach level to have national championship success. This team is going to be a hot mess

just can't see paying a KID a half a million dollars and that kid may never play a down, leave and go to a rival for more money or become a cancer in the locker room.

He will have to play them or they will transfer to the next highest bidder.

Be interesting to see how much of that class is still there in 2 years

I don't think the NCAA is going to be able to step in. This is something that came down from Congress. Maybe there could be enough pressure put on Congress to change the law but I doubt it.

Players will make more than coaches and they will let it be known and this will cause issues.

There is no way A&M can keep all of these players happy and there will be too many I's and Me's. Players will jump ship

We will pick Mathews up next year for half the price once he realizes what a shite show A&M is.

Well they are now into year 5, paid him $30 million for the first 4 years and now he will be getting $9.5-$10 million the remaining 6 and with this $25-$30 million tied up in NIL for this class, I think they will want a NC in next 2 years.

Sure a lot of players will transfer but then you just bring in the next class and weed them out. You going to wind up with the cream of the cream of the crop. The Best of the Best.

If you have to pay players up front to sign with your school it probably means they dont really want to be there. You saw that with HP when AM said sign first then we will pay you he said no thanks. I have heard they paid JM upfront and probably a lot of the others. If they just there for the money and not because they fell in love with the school or feel like that school is best for them, how hard do they practice and play? I guess we will find out. I dont mind paying players but I would still want them to really want to play for LSU. Not here because we paid the most.

Exactly, those of us who have raised children can already tell you how this story ends.

This is what I foresee— kids getting paid and then not putting forth the effort that got them paid— because they “made it.”

Happens in the pros all the time; if you have ever played fantasy football, you know that the guy who is in year one of his new contract is almost certain to have a dip in production compared to his “contract year” the season before.
