re: Penei Sewell had a HUGE game today for the Bengals (9 Rec 116 Yds, 3 CAR 23 yards)

Receivers are a dime a dozen. Great pass blockers aren’t.

Curious then that the team that took the “great” pass blocker is picking 2nd while the team that took the “dime a dozen” WR is in the final 8. Can’t wait to see how the Bengals do after they draft a new QB.
Also surprisingly the data tells the opposite of your view

In drafting Ja’Marr Chase with the fifth overall pick, it is overwhelmingly clear that the Bengals made the smart choice in terms of positional value. The wide receiver position consistently generates more WAA and PAWAA than offensive tackle. No matter how you slice it, Chase generated more value in college than Sewell and did so in fewer total snaps. It wasn’t even close.

Because they have holes all over their roster.

Met Michael Clayton while he was at LSU (I was a student too). He was a tool.

The Bengals were just as bad the 2 prior years, I wonder what could have changed for them?

Penei Sewell is like 21 and had a great year. He will be the Lions left tackle for the next decade. These type of threads are odd

The teams are clearly in different situations. The lions have no QB so you might as well build up a solid offensive line to protect the rookie you inevitably draft. Not to mention Amron St Brown looks awesome so it probably will work out for the Lions.

Health and free agency signings.

There’s history on this board, the guy was was responding to is an anitLSU troll that has been bashing Burrow for 2 years. Even saying the Bengals should draft another QB

Back to the Chase Sewell debate what’s funny is the Bengals actually did exactly that. They took a C in 2018 and LT Williams in 2019.
Sewell was definitely a great prospect and the Bengals would be totally justified if they took. But as I explained a few posts ago, there were people in this board Twitter and even the media screaming bloody murder that passing on Sewell would doom Burrow and the franchise as if him and only him could fix the OL, which is just stupid but then again no one understands nuance anymore

You backed up a shite OP and you should feel bad about it.

Chase had an historic year and the Bengals not only made the playoffs they won a game, they can take OL in this draft and or sign free agents. Sewell may be a great player but him alone will not make or break the OL but again understanding nuances or degrees is beyond you

OL is always more important than WR. Patriots won 6 Super Bowls with that belief.
But I’m sure you know better than them.

During their SB runs they took a grand total of 2 OL in the first round. They traded out more times than that

I don’t know why it’s so hard for you and other morons to understand the simple point that you can build a good line multiple ways. Passing on Sewell will it make or break the Bengals

How about today?
I’m sure he enjoyed watching Chase advance to the AFCCG

That WR sure helped prevent 9 sacks today, I know that.
Posted on 1/22/22 at 6:44 pm to Bottom9
Many Bengals fans and media wanted Cincy to draft an elite O Lineman because they were spooked after what happened to Joey B's knee last year.
Posted on 1/22/22 at 6:46 pm to TheeRealCarolina
We know for sure rookie RT would have prevented them all.
Wait, I’m confused are the sacks all because of the OL or because Joey “turnover” hold the ball too long, on his way to the AFCCG

He was only significantly better than the entire right side of the Bengals line this year and every time little Joey gets hit y’all complain about his lack of protection when half of the sacks today were directly his fault, but you keep SIMPing for a guy who didn’t even score today kid.
