He's been a great pick for the Bengals.

Doing a great job this season of protecting Joe Burrow and helping the franchise finally win playoff games.

All this while JaMarr Chase sits at home

This thread is like bludgeoning the ground with a sledgehammer where a straw man stood 3 months ago.

I think it's good to remind people, who thought that Chase was some kind of bum or some shite, that their take was fricking garbage

nobody called him a bum, just thought it was better to get Burrow some blocking up front when he already had WRs to throw to

You don't pass on a future hall of fame WR who dicked like 8 NFL corners whole he was in college.

It's worked out great for the Bengals I'd say

Right, except those people have already been reminded 400 times over the course of the season through at least a dozen threads like this one. Are people going to make Sewell / Chase “gotcha” threads when Chase has a good game 5 years from now?

I remember when Vince Young was NFL rookie of the year.

Sewell is a good player.

We have no idea who will have the better career

Oh, brother. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

Also, I don’t recall anyone calling Jamarr Chase a bum. Like someone else noted, a lot of us just thought it would be smarter to invest in a potential elite LT that would help protect him going forward.

The problem was people acting like NOT taking Sewell was some colossal blunder that would doom Burrow like he was the only way to fix or improve the OL.

I just believe it's easier to get a great WR outside of the first round.

You can get OL in later rounds too. You don’t have to have a HOF LT to have a good OL. People also forget they did draft aa OT #8 the year before they drafted Burrow

#11, Williams.

To be fair --- there was thought Williams and/or Sewell could slide to RT or LG where they are WOEFULLY dreadful.

The reason people cared was because although Chase is elite, Higgins is a legit #1 and Boyd is a legit #2 already. Protecting Burrow to make sure he can throw to those guys may be more important in the long run. Despite a better OL this year, he's still getting pressured/hit a lot.

I get it, I always thought the argument that they had Higgins and Boyd so less need at WR was better than the OMG BURROW IS GONNA DIE if they don’t take Sewell type arguments we heard. It is those arguments that have lead to threads like this imo.

Both were great prospects so I don’t think it would have been a bad pick either way. The line does appear to need some work we’ll see what they do in free agency and the his draft
